Agencies are advertising class 2 work in the Witney area for a “blue chip client,” when actually it’s for a contractor that does West Oxons’ bins. Not what I’d call blue chip or should that be “brown ■■■■”?
All the agency customers here are ‘Blue Chip’, or ‘Prestigious’ (apparently).
I have yet to see one advertised as heavy dirty work, driving clapped out motors and being treated like dog poop advertised.
As I understand it, the term Blue Chip comes from the trading floor off the London Stock Exchange. Before Big Bang in the mid 80’s, the traders worked on the floor off the LSE and blue chips went along side companies that were a good stock to invest in.
Why it has become a term to describe a company off good repute as I suspect is the thinking behind using the term “blue chip”, as in the OP, I dont know

Well they can’t be too honest now can they:)
“Blue Chip” = Company that’s worth over a £billion and is in a stock market index… This would therefore include firms like Nobby Dressingtables that are in the French CAC index rather than the FTSE.
I always used to think it meant they got there goods delivered on Chep pallets
So after all these years i was wrong

You forgot to mention that all the opportunities to drive for them are “Exciting”
Being full of ■■■■.
