A good variety of work all over Ireland North and South , Scotland and Northern England (well I havent been South of J42 on the M6 for nearly 3 years and that was a load of cream from Manchester ). I get a variety of this all and it keeps me interested - Im not one for the same job day after day .

Flat til the mat with the party hat on the Frigo’s!!! :sunglasses:

Spent a year doing tramping general haulage. Not a bad gig, but not what I wanted. Now I’m just starting out on flats, which is what I wanted… so far so good!

Not flat up the hills in that MAN though :stuck_out_tongue:

Medical supplies (intravenous fluids for the most part). Vast majority of it to hospitals in London/Midlands in 18T rigid but do a few Class 1 runs as well as the odd home delivery run in 7.5T or 12T to add to the mix. Based in Northampton. Easy, clean work for the most part (once you’ve been to a given hospital once and so know the lie of the land!) although the home deliveries give you a reasonable workout. Been doing it 10 years now - it’ll see me to retirement in another 6…

Well I work for a covert multi-agency unit, I haul a disguised fridge trailer, that is really an operational, communication, and command centre full the roof of high tech computer and listening equipment, there’s also a steel strong room full of weaponry. It’s known as u unit, or its accronim, is U.T.W.A.Ts.

I work 4 shifts of 11.15 hrs a week for a well known supermarket running from a chilled/frozen depot delivering South West, South coast, South and West Wales.

Single /multidrop work out all week unloading 1 of these full of underlay all handball, between 2 and 4 trailers a week of it . Not everyone’s cup of tea but I don’t mind a bit of manual labour , been doing it 10 years now

Crikey, you must be as fit as a butchers dog unloading that by hand for 10 years

Agency at Heathrow do 4 or 5 days on a contract for dhl. Usually 3 runs to airport 60 km a day 2 hours driving 2 hours work in a 12 hour shift. Box trailer roller bed mainly aircraft bins and pallets. Very easy work but can be very boring loads of waiting around.
On other days will work elsewhere and sometimes get a trip off the airport.

Back on the motor sport work full time this year, not that much driving, lots of moving things and cleaning things at the workshop and circuit, look after the tyres when we’re racing, also the transport manager for the team.
Was doing a mixture of motor sport, PR Event work and covered car transport last year which was interesting and enjoyable, but was offered a good deal to take this job, its a bit of a challenge at the moment, but this should be a good job once I get it sorted or it could go to ■■■■, because of some impending external factors affecting the team, hopefully we’ll find out in a few weeks when the dust settles.

Errrr wish I was :open_mouth: it’s not as bad as it looks think there about 15 tons on that , most loads vary between 5 and 10 tons , got a 1 hit Colchester tomorrow weighing in at 4 tons that’ll be a breeze

Steel coils is my main bread and butter, if that’s quiet I’ll do a bit of traction work for the SAS* and on the rare occasion I’ll even do a bit of work for the richest bloke in history.

Bulk waste. Everything from animal by products to waste wood. Usually pulling a blood tanker but no stranger to bulk tippers and walking floors.

Agency doing night runs to other depots and outbases in curtainsiders for UKs largest kitchen manufacturer.

Palletised animal feeds to farms. Usually 32T curtain-sider with Moffett, occasional wagon/drag or artic; mainly around Wales with the odd night out but in summer I do pheasant food which can take me all over the southern part of the UK, and I’m out all week on that. Spend about 20% of my driving time on back lanes you’d think twice about tackling with a Land-Rover, but the scenery’s good, the customers are friendly and it keeps you sharp.

Own account company, decent place to work for, by and large drivers don’t leave. Been there 12 years and hoping it sees me through to retirement.

Jeff Bezos as of today. Yes.

But “in history”? If I was pedantic I would argue that point.
Sooo…
Uncle Joe Stalin had control of 9.6% of global GDP, does that count? You could argue that the USSR was his “firm”.
Adjusting for inflation Rockefeller was about 3 times as rich as Bezos.
Augustus Caesar had control of more than 25% of the world economy, (makes Stalin seem poor) and he personally owned …Egypt…when Egypt was a much bigger world power than today. World GDP 2016 was $75 trillion, so he would have had control of the equivalent of $19,000,000,000,000. Jeff would need to multiply his fortune by over 150 times to get close.
I, would have to multiply my wealth by lots and lots more.
