What kind of truck when we run out of diesel - for good?

OK found a link.Have a look, see what you think.Sounds about the same as yours,Orys. No indication as to cost, but early days yet.

Another interesting twist on fuel saving :open_mouth:

Seems like it will be a fascinating future for the transportation industry - Road, Rail, Sea & Air.

Might need to go the LHV route with this one

Have you been watching Kevin mcclouds man made home ? Gas from your own ■■■, could kill two birds with one stone , in cab toilet & gas powered engine …

We could all live at the seaside and bring back sailing ships. :open_mouth:

If the USA used the supplies that it has within its borders instead of stealing the supplies in the middle east we would have enough to last 100’s of years.

wee update on my LPG generator conversion…

ran on a 13.5 kg bottle for a total of 37 hours with no problems at all and it only cost me £14.80…

Happy Days… :sunglasses:

I used to have car running on LPG. At this time it costed me around 40% of what I would have to spent if I ran on petrol. It’s a shame that LPG conversions to modern cars are so expensive, as I would do it with my current car as well.

synthetic petrol/diesel made from coal…I think Germany did this in WW2
Steam. modern flash -tube technology removes the risk of boiler explosions
Clockwork. There was research in Japan in WW2
Flywheel inertia
Nuclear fission. Bad by-products

 I think you mean fusion ■■?

We could breed more whales.

“They” reckon that some old Scania’s could do 200 km to the whale. :unamused:

Quite expensive, and we don’t have unlimited coal as well… But there is technology (Poland has patent to it) that can make petrol of coal only slightly more expensive than todays prices, so maybe soon someone will implement it if the prices will still be going up?

Steam. modern flash -tube technology removes the risk of boiler explosions

Yeah, but how to produce steam on the run? We still need energy to do that.

Clockwork. There was research in Japan in WW2

Some people here are moaning about winding the trailer legs up, I just can’t wait to see what they say when they will have to wind up the truck before the trip

Flywheel inertia

That was done before, I think in Belgium. It was called girobus: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyrobus Proved to be not too practical…

Nuclear Fission. On the horizon

If you mean nuclear fussion, that horizon is very far away…

Photosynthesis

You mean solar powered? So far only very light vehicles can run on that source of energy and only in very sunny places (see australian race for solar powered cars).

Hydrogen

Again, the hydrogen has to be made somehow, and that uses a lot of energy…

Biogas

■■■■ powered truck… If I believe from what it said here on trucknet about Polish cusine - that we eat only cabbage - then, sadly, Polish drivers will have advantage again…

Electric

That is already here…

magnetic induction

And how would that work?

super cooled, super conducting magnets

Can’t imagine that one as well…

synthetic muscles

Muscles or not, it still needs to take energy from somewhere…

Canals

Inland water transport still have lot of unused potential…

Quantum entaglement

Beam me 10 pallets of Coke to Tesco Livingstone, Scotty!

I can just imagine some of the ■■■■ ups they’d manage with that one

Personally I think natural gas LNG CNG will become more popular in time as someone who works in this field I have seen a a lot more operators switching mainly to the Volvo truck LNG duel fuel system sainsbury Stobarts coca cola to name a few the main problem is trying to get drivers to fill the trucks up correctly with the gas some just arnt bothered to fill them up as the duel fuel system will run just on derv, biogas is available but from experience it comes with problems LNG comes from fossil gas biogas as it says comes from waste ie landfill waste treatment plants there are quality issues with this type of gas it comes in different grades which will affect engine performance and cause serious gas injector faults in the engine it’s a more dryer type of gas to fossil some companies think biogas is an alternative future proof fuel but believe me stick to fossil gas LNG as this stuff will save you money and save your engines
