What kind of truck when we run out of diesel - for good?

A lot of people say it all went wrong when the computer was made… Or did it ?

No just when Carryfast and Orys bought one

Have a look, youll see a “Free Energy Car”

Maybe this is the way things will go and trucks could be similar ?

A Renault electric car passed me today in the street, it sounded so strange, only tyre noise, it reminded me of a Steven King book I have read :open_mouth:

What will future generation Truck Drivers be driving ?

My prediction is that long before the oil runs out, there will be no such job as “truck driver”, trucks will be fully automated, controlled by GPS and distance sensors. All the technology exists already, it’s just a case of fine-tuning it. The rise of automatic gearboxes is a huge leap towards it.

People keep saying that, but there will still be someone to watch what the truck is doing and step in if it all goes Pete Tong. Think of it this way, if that was really possible there’d be no train drivers by now as they have one less variable than trucks.

The military have been using pilot less aircraft for some time, there are also driverless trains. All that is required is investment and public acceptance.

think Star Trek, just beam your load to wherever it is wanted… or go the whole way… suppose you have just used a tin of beans out of the cupboard at home, the bar code sensor in your kitchen registers it with the government computer system… once funds have been cleared from your social living account, the tin will be added to your next due shipment which will be beamed to your receiving dock from a central government stockpile. unfortunately you will still have to put the shopping away.

Been done before, during the Suez crisis when fuel was rationed, some firms used steam, Prestons of Potto for one, and Fremlins brewery in Kent had a contractor using a fleet of Sentinels to deliver their beer.

Just converted my wee Honda Generator that we run on my wife’s snack bar to run on LPG gas… :sunglasses:

Bought the kit on Ebay for £170 … took half an hour to fit the kit…

The generator was our spare one that was sitting in my shed for about two months… it started first time …
pay about 35 quid a week on petrol … should get about 40/45 hours a week on one 19kg bottle of gas which costs me £16.80…

Happy days…

i reckon it’ll either be trucks running on biodiesel (assuming they can sort out the problems with running it thru high pressure pumps) or elec trucks supplied by overhead cables like trams

Nate:
. . . . elec trucks supplied by overhead cables like trams.

it’s other things we should be worrying about like the increase of artificial intelligence.

DDont scoff at batterys, they have come on leaps and bound the last few years, with the use of these and linear magnets 44 tonne will be chicken feed.Global warming will see the use of barges ,boats and ships but I think nuclear war or a large metorite will see our demise, just off to stick my head in a gas oven
