Right no bullshitters…or ‘Mr Perfect’…When your feeling a bit tired…what tricks do u use to keep u going…on the road■■?
Personally i find Lucazade sport works a treat…couple swig’s…PING…wide awake…
Find pro-plus works very well…but not too keen on pumping too much of that in my body…
Redbull is a load of ■■■■■■■■…your awake…but your mind isn’t there…
Those pilot night driving lights are a awesome…it’s amazing how much driving without…drains u…
When saying so the one’s in Scania’s…and Daf’s…errrrrrmmmmmm…
Stop for a 10 minute, or 20 minute if I can afford the time, mini nap. Otherwise, er, stuff like red bull or get my mind working, such as cutting up a plot of a recent book or film I’ve seen.
Stop and have a ‘Power Nap’ for 20 minutes or so - Best by far
Tank myself up with Red Bull, although doesnt seem to work till im in bed trying to sleep
Get a pack of boiled sweets and ■■■■ on those
I also find the red/green night lights very effective also, find it helps alot as apposed to driving without them
does any one find when they have nap they suddenly wake up and think they arestill driving …hence pooing there pants and mini heart attack lmao
i do all time wake up think ive nodded off while driving suddenly grab steering wheel look round and then see im parked up lol
plenty of sleep the night before or if i do feel i am tired and nodding then i just stop and get me head down for a bit.
don’t do red bull pick me up’s or window open etc. i don’t think it works - sleep is the answer.
the only thing that keeps me awake is worring that my fridge disturbs someone else
must admit to reading an artice somewhere that apples are very good at staving off tiredness . it has to do with the suger content ( fructose )
orange pippins are my chioce

There are times when I’ve had a 15 minute snooze and suddenly spring awake and the brain is trying to work out whether I parked or crashed, still hey ho, gets the old adrenaline flowing for a minute or two.
I usually open the window if that doesn’t help then I pull in and have a power nap ( doesn’t really matter whether I have the time or not as put simply " you’re a long time dead " ).
Coffee and red bull does help but it may be that the walk from the truck to the forecourt shop to buy it is what really does the trick.
( OOps wrong quote should have been the one about crashing or parking. )
Normally my body dips at anytime between 2am and 4am . Thats when i really feel it .Normally done by then and on my way back home so i have no timed bookings to hit etc so i can take my time . Normally stop and walk into the services for the toilet and then into the shop for a chocolate bar or something . That normally wakes me up . If not then i press on to the laybys and go to sleep . Forgot to set my alarm the other morning , spent 2 hours flat out in the layby Nice sleep though .

Apparently around 3 am is peak time for crashes. I have a permanent solution to night time teiredness which I used to suffer from. I went on days!
The only time if get tired is when I havent had a good days sleep, I have done nights for six years, driving a taxi at first now a 44 tonner. I used to drink alot of red bull all the time but you end up getting used to it and its not cheap.Red bull is saved now for them really tired moments. I take a flask of strong coffee with me, I have the window open wide for bursts of 5-10 mins and a good CD on loud, depending on your taste but I find a bit of 2 tone does the trick for me. I also keep the temp in the cab right down as too warm a cab makes me tired even when I have had a good days sleep.
Were on a tight scedule so stopping is difficult and cant do the power nap thing it makes me worse to be honest, a mate of mine swears by in cab dancing as he calls it. you know circling the shoulders, tapping the feet, looking to all insundry like your demented from the outside. I have tried this but it makes me laugh too much
In cab dancing Yup i,m guilty of that .
I was tired this morning picked up 4K OVERSPEED this morning . Just forgot about the hill and holding it back on the brakes , just on my way back before i was pulling into the services as i knew i was tired . The next thing i know the dashboard display is telling me off and the digi head is flashing at me to confirm the overspeed , blasted thing !
If I start to feel a bit rough, usually between 4 and 5 am I will stop, have a coffee and a walk around and then I’m OK again. If ever I got to the point where I found that I got somewhere but could’nt remember getting there, or get the drooping head feeling then its time to quit nights.

Due to your body clock wanting to sleep the most. People sleep more deeply at around that time of the morning for some reason.
It’s worse in the winter months when the sun isnt up so early. The day light ‘really’ helps.
