Umbrella =Con

Umbrella (1). A device to shelter under to prevent getting wet during precipitation.

(2). A scheme set up by pointy shoe wearing ring suckers. Usually a way of charging a limping fool for receiving their own pay.

You’re paying to receive your own wages.

Did Agency have big glass doors as entrance to reception … :unamused: thought so…Think they seen you coming…Slimey Muckers :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

They make ■■■■ Turpin or Bonnie and Clyde etc look like Saints

41hrs x £10.25 = £420.25 gross
youve been paid £290 net, so youve paid £130.25 in deductions, around a third of your gross income.
Asuming youve paid income tax and NI contributions at standard rates, what we dont know are the fees levied by the “umbrella Co”?.

I can laugh because i got caught up in it a good while back. When i realized what was happening it was Adios time for me. Paying to receive your wages and their National Insurance. Told them to GTF :grimacing:

And before anybody asks who it was, don’t bother because i won’t be telling you it was Bluestone Logistics :grimacing:

+1…

No disrespect but, why would you sign up to a scheme involving your wages that you didn’t really understand?

Don’t be pressured by some pointy shoed cheap suit telling you what’s good for you. Take the forms, take them home, read them, understand them and then act accordingly.

Go back and insist on PAYE terms.

youre a second hand car dealers dream punter

Ive never been paid any other way than paye in my life and didnt expect this job to be any different. Nothing has been explained. When i didnt receive my first weekly wage this morning i chased it up. A payroll company then rang to confirm a few identity details and said i would receive pay before 6pm. I had no idea.

Then you…

Need to be going back there, up the stairs two at a time and get them told.

Use the search function here, there are many threads on brolly firms, PAYE and Ltd co status. You’re safer and better off on PAYE.

You’re working for an agency that is concerend about it’s profits and nothing else.

If they won’t change, I’d go somewhere else. There’s a whole heap of the brown stuff concerning brolly companies.

£420.25p less tax and NI with a tax code of 11500 on PAYE = net £348.84p, so fee = £58.40p

Always some ■■■■■■■ stood behind you just waiting for you to make the mistake of bending over.

True.
But if I was making more money off of guys who agreed to go umbrella I know who I’d prioritize to send to my clients.

Should be outlawed, surprised the UK govt hasnt stepped in and put a stop to such swindling. Do these agencies actually use a ‘payroll’ company or is this all an in house con?

From reading previous posts it seems that agencies “suggest” umbrella company to the worker. By a massive coincidence the records show that these companies have the same directors. Amazing!
A common problem on some if these threads seems to be
“I was told ■■■” and “I was promised ■■■”.
Someone, possibly younger and not workplace savvy, needing work, over-laden with new info and with lots of forms to sign for the agency is an easy target for sharp practice.
I think you’re right though. The law seems inadequate or at least unenforced.
