What is this thing?

This is possibly one for Bully’s Bar, although I’ll post it here first so at least a few people get to see it before it vanishes into obscurity.

Does anyone know what the object is at the top of the pic? (The debit card is to show scale). It was found by the roadside by a scavenger from another forum I visit, and all we can assume at the moment is that is comes from a vehicle, possibly a truck.

Possibly a catch of a drop side?

Maybe, I’m trying to resize the image to show more of it, it has a stainless steel wire coming out of the right hand side
.

A tilt door lock. Sprung loaded used to pull them to the right to undo the side drop doors on tilts fitted with them.

It does look like some type of door catch but I’ve pulled plenty of tilts in my time and I’ve never seen anything like this? My best guess at the moment is that it is from some specialist type of trailer such as a livestock transporter.

The pull cable would suggest to me a car bonnet release catch, or a Truck front grille release catch, maybe?

A security clip that holds a spare wheel on my boy reckons.

That’s exactly it. I had one on my galaxy

You’re all wrong,it’s a bank card. :stuck_out_tongue:

Just seen a bit more of the picture, and agree with robroy, off a spare wheel holder.

Its actually a fish hook for very large fish, sharks ect, the spring takes the strain of the thrashing trying to escape fish, stops the line breaking.

It’s the release catch from a Scotsman’s wallet, you’ll notice from the amount of rust the lack of use

I only knew because my boy who is a Ford Tech told me when I showed him the pic.

Now it seems to have been solved, so did somebody else but theirs fell off.

i think its a prototype for the firsts POGO STICK …looks too heavy for a bonnet catch…never ever seen a catch like that on a tilt, and i used to pull tilts with half doors.
