For me it’s very much dependent on the type of work the vehicle is on and the inspection frequency, you can also normally judge how heavy a driver is in the brakes by the condition of the disc. I look at all that and if I think there’s any chance of the brakes being goosed by next inspection then I’ll replace them.
Don’t know exactly how much is left on them, but volvo change ours when they get down to 30% on the laptop
For me I can drive until there’s a nats knacker on them with confidence, but if it’s from a workshop point of view then if the thickness of meat is same or less than the metal backing then change.
The pads can easily have deteriorated in condition sufficiently to require renewal well before the display flags up. There is no substitute for the eyeball.
this condition would be cost effective,anything earlier is just money down the pan…
