What is happening?

i’ve just the redundancy notice that my mate got from dhl dray (john smiths contract) in appleton in warrington. along with 21 other driving staff he’s been given 4 weeks notice. the dray wagon operation was never large to start with (i worked on the contract a while ago) the rest of the staff according to the letter i read earlier are being put on short time. it also says that the company (dhl) regrets having to make the decision at this time.
i have spoken to the local newspaper to ask them what they knew of it and i’ve had it confirmed that it will be in their paper - the latest edition of which ought to be online in the next few hours and in the local shops tomorrow morning.

on bbc news at 6pm it said that the government takes 1/3 of the cost of a pint.

when is all this madness going to stop.

i sincerely apologise to rikki-uk and the rest of the board members for the earlier posting and for not reading the rules properly and adhering to them before posting.

It doesnt matter to them if beer was 10 quid a pint…there all on a lot more money than a truck driver…and i bet they dont pay tax on the booze in the house of commons bar. i hope the drivers find employment else where.

that’s the problem with living here — there is nothing to go into if you get made redundant despite what the politicians say. everywhere just seems to be contracting the firms that are still going are having to try and do ten times more with less staff cos there isn’t any money in the system to pay for them.

it’s my mates kids that i feel sorry for.
