What is good repute?

Not Terry Thomas ie a cad and a bounder :grimacing:

Ronnie zb’ing Pickering!

Who the chuffing ell is chuffin Ronnie Pickering ?

“Repute” used to be about “Old Money”, then became about “New Money”, and these days it’s about “Bent Money that one gets to keep”.

If you had a “bad” reputation, you’d think there would be pressure to take that money off you.

It doesn’t seem to have done guys like Mark Ashley of Sports Direct any bother though.

We all know he’s a dodgy geezer, but by keeping in with the ruling government rather than the general population, he ensures that all the laws in place that actually get enforced - protect him from the angry public rather than the other way around, as a “person of repute” would in the legendary days of old - would have it.

Whilst the angry public vent their spleen at each other’s opposing political views (Eg. Left hate UKIP, UKIP hate Tory, Tory hate the Left) - our dodgy billionaires continue to coin it in, unabated.

We’re no closer to getting “Sir” Phillip Green to “put back” that £571m the BHS pension fund is short of, despite the fact that we know he’s enriched himself beyond that amount over the years.
One would think that it would be child’s play - by comparison to someone like Robert Maxwell, who looted the Mirror Group Pension Fund, donked the money away laying currency options, and then snuffed it with that money never replaced.

There’s no point in hoping for a Corbyn Government to put things right either. Should he ever get into power, he’ll quickly be removed by the momentum machine behind him, and policies will be enacted that makes the “Poor whom we shall persecute” will be anyone earning more than double the minimum wage rather than the handful of billionaires, who’s money will soon be depleted in the wider scheme of things - assuming that this is the way a left-wing government intend to raise money for all their promises to be kept, without raising taxes.
