What is a good/ achievable wage for new class 2 - Manchester

Alright lads and lasses , finally got my cat c and have been offered a job tipping tarmac - £400 a week .

Now, I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about messing around with agency work , and I should be glad but could I earn more somewhere else? Or stick it out for 6 months while I do class 1.

Read someone on here was getting £34k a year doing class 2 :open_mouth:

Also, the jobs in Bolton .

Congrats on getting your Class C pal!

A bit more info would probably help, as is that £400 gross, or take home?

Also what shifts you doing? Do you know the hourly rate? etc…

As otherwise you’re asking: how long is a piece of string?

Haha cheers

It’s through a friend. £400 a week take home , £50 ot on Saturdays available for half day

6am - 5pm weekdays

Well, it also depends on the area… (Which I don’t know - I’m Southampton)

But that sounds about right for the jobs I’ve seen advertised in my area. Maybe a little low, but you’re a newbie like me, so it’s not easy to argue that you’re worth more…

Hope that helps, and would like to hear how you get on if you take it pal!

Is that in Manchester mate?

Not to bad for a newbie on Tarmac. You’ll do plenty of hours sitting around waiting and a few more cleaning the body out if you don’t prep it properly.

Make sure you have a spray can full of diesel and spray plenty in the body before you get loaded, along with plenty of dust. The load should come out nice and clean then [emoji108]
Most companies don’t like you using diesel anymore so might have to be a bit discrete about it…
