Ripponden and District did have trucks with arched roofs in order to get through the arched entrances to mils in Yorkshire.

Some of the early railway engineers werenāt idiots, they built a viaduct down south where the piers were just the right distance apart to get the M25 through, and similarly near Stockport thereās another where the M60 fits through a treat.

theres similar arched bridges in edinburgh on the rail approach to waverly station underneath the castle.though the logic of why anyone would want to build a castle on top of a railway station somewhat escapes meā¦ 
after doing some research ive discovered it was the irish that invented them by accident as being irish they are masters of all aspects of shovellingā¦they were designed as underpasses but by the time the drawings reached the site,they had them upside down,and voila!!!,the arched bridge was duly invented.

The bloke who designed a bridge which has stayed standing for hundreds of years and it was designed before any vehicle that heavy was around yet many can still withstand hundreds of tons on it at any one time all day long.

The driver who ignores or misses road signs, follows a car sat nav when driving a truck, hes heard in an rdc waiting room that someone has seen a double decker go under that 13 foot bridge so it will be reet, or he canāt move to the middle of the road for an arch which he can get under.
