Apart from boasting that they are working with the government for our night out subsistence allowances, then never increasing the lorry drivers ‘Tax Free’ night out subsistence allowance for the past five yearshttps://www.gov.uk/hmrc-internal-manuals/employment-income-manual/eim66110
Allowing the daily lorry drivers mid-day meal allowance of £2.00 per day (Yes that’s £2.00 shiny pounds tax free towards your mid day meal) to never change since 1988!!, which the RHA also negotiate with the government! EIM66140 - Tax treatment of lorry drivers: mid-day meals: allowances paid by employers - HMRC internal manual - GOV.UK, and this is whilst the rest other travelling workers of 2017 get up to £15 per day meal allowance EIM05231 - Employment income: scale rate expenses: subsistence expenses: table of benchmark scale rates - HMRC internal manual - GOV.UK
Apart from wrongly trying to stop ‘self employed drivers’ working for themselves and not admitting they (The RHA) were completely wrong about it.
Apart from working with the government to close illegal lorry parks? (What is an illegal lorry park?), but not bothering to work with the government to create new, safe, clean lorry parks.
apart from all that… WHAT HAVE THE RHA NEVER DONE FOR US?
To put it bluntly…Jack ■■■■…They are and always have been for the hauliers…the bosses…never for the drivers, that what unions are for, but since the majority never want to join a union, to be be united, must mean they are very happy with what they`ve got…doesnt matter about the minority…same as brexit really, over half voted for it, the other just below half can go and stuff themselves…well you know what i mean…so stay with where you are, or look for another company with better conditions…but i know exactly what you mean.
The RHA will do nothing for drivers because it is a trade association and represents hauliers, not drivers. In any case, it is too busy whining that the government should be paying for training (thus allowing hauliers both to keep wages down and mitigate their own dreadful inability to carry out business planning) to concern itself with poor facilities.

The answer is SFA!!! They are a trade association for hauliers.
I was a member for several years, ( paying for the privilege) and all I ever got from them was correspondence about “jollies” to holiday destinations for AGM’s. Make sure you bring your bowtie !!! How the hell they expected an O.D./ small haulier to afford the time and cash to do this? In my opinion the fees for membership could not be justified. Regards Kev.
Well its not a drivers association, generally their income is derived from hauliers , so that’s whose interest they represent.
I’ve found them helpful. I go to a couple of free briefings every year that brings me up to speed on new law, changes and how to approach those. When I got to be the first UK haulier to have to deal with the German minimum wage law for foreign drivers, they were helpful and put me in touch with a contact in the DfT in the UK and Germany.
They aren’t perfect but neither am I.
They gave me a few stickers once.
A.
The alleged lack of drivers !
Neither the RHA,URTU OR THE T&GWU have ever done anything for the drivers, these
people take the money but never put anything back in,
These group of bodies could build, open truckstops all over this country with the amount of money
they have taken from people, to ensure they get the right people useing them you would have to be part of
their organisation. That way it would be looking after there own.■■? IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN THOUGH.
RHA is what it says Road Haulage Association its a group of Owners banded together intended to determine what conditions and wages are given to Drivers and to lobby the Government for what they want as Owners nothing more.
The only association that had any benefits to Drivers was the old Transport Association where Membership allowed Drivers, through their Bosses being a Member, to fuel up or draw night out money if they needed it, and get backloads.
the nodding donkey:
The aquaduct?
Ok then, apart from the aqueduct?
What have they done.
Well, longer hours, less wages.
Sums them up. They are not interested in the driver, and if if you think the government care think again.
Supermarkets are filled by the food fairies etc… how can you expect spells who earn in a year what some of you drivers earn in 15 to care please.

the roads ?
Ok, apart from the aqueducts, the roads, the underfloor heating and education, what have they ever done for us?

Problem with unions is you have to pay to ■■■■■■■ join, granted it’s only £2.50 aweek. But as we are hard pressed for cash and time as it is, that £130 quid is better off in my pocket then some tools that’s to busy milking money of numb ■■■■■ that are stupid enough to join a “union” that have no ■■■■■■■ power to help the the ■■■■■ they get to join them… United looking at you.
You all need to realise, you drive a truck, you can walk out on a job and start driving again in 9 hours time.
