I came off the M3 onto the M27 e/b at 03.00 on Monday morning heading for Fareham.
Immediately I got onto the M27 the overheads gave out,“CAUTION ONCOMING VEHICLE”.
Just then,4 police cars with their blues on raced past going w/b.
The warnings of an oncoming vehicle continued until J8,then the all clear was shown.
Did I miss something?
It must have been a phantom car, they never do respect the Highway Code them ghosts!!!
Apparently there was a ‘confused’ OAP chasing down the motorway in the wrong direction in his Peugeot 207.
The police got to him before he killed himself or anyone else and apparently told him off.
My wife was travelling down a motorway on her way home, so i phoned her to say that a report on the local radio said, a car was travelling down a motorway the wrong way, and for her to watch out, she replied, " Its more than one, theres hundreds"
I saw the same message once on a snowy motorway, almost panicked, all lanes open though, wondered what’s going on■■? Then I saw it - a gritter reversing up the hard shoulder! Wow…
According to the paper the old boy drove for 7 miles on the wrong side before the old bill stopped him (3am).
