What gets my goat

as the subject says what gets my goat are things like, road works, quite a lot going on locally and the papers spouting how unacceptable they are, queues, diversions, grid lock, well they have been advertised for weeks in advance get a grip people, if you need to travel sort it before, either leave earlier, later, different route, get your company to look at changing your start times for a while, don’t just sit and moan about it,
pay equality if the job was good enough to start on an amount then why should it matter to you if someone else male or female asked and got a different rate for the same job, why when say the firemen wanted an amount some folk said oh I only get this amount for this job, it makes no difference if you are a care worker say or a fireman you chose your career if you want a firemans money be a fireman (not that I would do it whatever they earned) jobs normally pay what they are capable of earning, an eight legger with sand cannot earn as much as an eight legger with a super yacht on over the same distance, when I started with my trusty TK Bedford 10 drops to Doncaster paid a lot more than a one drop to the same area unless the one drop became urgent, this is real life people.

People on unnecessary journeys, that are not pro or even qualified drivers, - all paid for by the taxpayer via the offset system.

These people think nothing of filling up at MSAs for 20p per litre premium - because it’s not their money they are spending - it’s yours (assuming you’re PAYE)

There’s more of this “Scrounger” traffic on the road than there is commercial traffic - so that’s what gets my goat the most. :imp:

Pot holes! and Roadworks! they should abolish both!!

The entire system and how it’s engineered.

Winseer, I’ve read this through several times , and sorry, it’s still too oblique for me.

Specifically, which drivers are you referring to?

Cars that are doing 40mph in a well signed 40mph zone. They see a speed camera despite 40mph signs and slow right down to 30 then speed up again

Anyone who gets to claim their car/van running costs off the taxpayer, which discourages people from both using their vehicles efficiently, saving money wherever they can, and the obvious one - boycotting MSA fuel stations outright, simply because the rest of us are spending their own money, and not other taxpayers filling up at a 20p premium.!

If one claims say, £1000pm in “tax offsets” and it’s all for “Road Use” related “Tax expenses” - then that person is draining double what a “regular” benefit scrounger feeding a family out of that benefits claim gets from their now capped £520pm… What’s worse? - A benefit scrounger who claims a max £520pm for an entire family, or a single geezer in a car or van, who uses that vehicle in a rather “Private” manner the majority of the time, for all manner of “any old trip” journeys, fills it and services it at overpriced establishments that should not be in business in a free market, and then charges it all to PAYE taxpayers who don’t get such offsets, and end up paying more taxes on lower wages than said offset claimants?

Hammond should have implemented his “White Van Man” plans. That he didn’t, might buy a few votes of fickle Tory voters, but alienates the core Tory vote, who are employed rather than self-employed. It feels like the government is bribing people to “creating their own jobs for themselves” by encouraging tax avoidance. Can’t the government be arsed to fix anything that’s wrong in the labour market PROPERLY rather than all this tinkering around the edges? If we’re not careful - we’ll eventually have NO one left in a PAYE job to pay any taxes at all to the exchequer. We’ll all have been encouraged to go Self-Employed, and we’ll all be on the very gravy train that the “Westminster Expenses Scandal” should have stamped out completely! :imp: :imp: :imp:

School run mums who live 5-10 minutes away from the school and disregard every road law going to make sure their darling is dropped off or picked up as close to the school gates as possible ! Why must they park so close to the school or in dangerous situations when they can park a few streets away and walk to the school - or ditch the car entirely !

I also have a neighbour who (despite being perfectly able) will use their car to pop to the shop no more than 5 minutes away ! Why ■■?
