With the I-roll function on our FH’S if your off the gas and cruise control it looks like its in neutral but it’s actually using no fuel so the longer it’s coasting along like that your using less fuel. That’s the idea anyway.

It is in neutral, and it is still using fuel as it needs to keep the engine running, the only time the truck isn’t supposed to use any fuel is on overrun as in, in gear and foot off the throttle allegedly, that’s how it was with a mechanical injector pump, and don’t see why electronic would be any different.
All these aids are designed for consistency across the board, a very good driver would more than likely beat the aids on getting the best fuel figures out of a truck with out using them.
