What does the board think of Gloriana?

Personally, I think she’s a beautiful boat.

Very nice.

I think she is a true testament to the craftsmen who built her, hand built from top to bottom, These are people we should be investing in rather than throwing our money at bankers.

If you dont make anything you have nothing to sell and too base an economy off trading rather than production means all you are creating is a paper house that blows down the first time a bad wind blows.

We have the skills and the crafts in this country, as Gloriana shows in a small way, what we dont have is the resolve to invest in it.

I think it looks like a floating gippo caravan. I hope she paid for it and not us.

I wonder if it has got a Scania engine

Harry, you ain’t got no class! :grimacing:

I’ve just checked. A million quid and it hasn’t even got an engine.

Mind you, if it’s the queen’s, and it did have an engine then I would say a Mercedes Benz or MAN engine would be more appropriate.

It’s got a 16 MAN engine!

I knew I’d seen it somewhere before.

It is a credit to British craftsmanship if it was built in this country using British craftsmen, if it was paid for by the tax-payer it does seem inappropriate to spend so much when the country is in such a poor economic situation.

Or maybe it should have been something cheaper imported from the far east like everything else more in keeping with Britain’s place in the global free market economy. :open_mouth: :smiling_imp:

Personally, I have always thought that the French were better at designing machines for the royal family.

Is that how you’re hoping to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee
