in say the last 20yrs ? ten years ago i had a chance of a job in north russia , the papers were all signed but i bottled it, had second thoughts
“My one regret in life is that I am not someone else”- Woody Allen.
Would have transferred onto tanks from transporters 10 years earlier, and gained thousands of hours free time whilst having the easiest job transport.
Wish i’d moved up to Northern Sweden much sooner for the ‘quality of life’.
I would have stayed with a Dutch company instead of moving to Belgium

Not get involved with a woman…
finishing my diesel apprenticeship being broke and jacking and going into forestry and lots o money when 16/17…jacked the driving job I stuck for 21yrs after a week!!! it sucked the life out o me ,made me a bitter twisted chip on both shoulders person (note that could also be because im a Scot). and the big one, taking my boss ;s(on the farm i grew up on ) offer of a job on a station in the northern territory australia when 16 i often wonder what i missed. jimmy
About 20 yrs ago i got asked by a friend to do a trip to doha with him.
He used to go out every couple of months with a truck (or 2) loaded from some random place, deliver the load and sell the truck in doha then eventually fly back home…
Its my one regret that i kept saying no.

I wish that I’d taken the option to buy shares at Imperial Tankers when I worked there. You could buy a maximum of 2000 shares at £1 each, but I didn’t as I figured that the value would not change. Many years later when Hargreaves bought the company out the shares were valued at £187 each!
Where do I start. …hidsight is a wonderful thing.
Not to be too fond of beer and women as I once was and all the ag they both brought .
…(although I won that particular ‘‘lottery’’ with my Mrs and still like a pint. )
Choice between joining up at 16 and taking an apprenticeship, listened to all the wrong advice and wasted 4 years of my life learning a trade I’d never use …cos I went ■■■■ driving.
Same as ‘truckertang’ not taking opportunity to take a loaded tilt on a run to Baghdad in 83 in a new 2800 DAF for a mate, while my own truck was in for big repair…would loved to have said I’d done that with all the kudos it brings. .
Thinking as an owner driver… ‘‘If I buy another truck I’ll make twice as much’’ …and not learning that lesson up to about 5 or 6, until job goes ■■■■ up after getting shafted and losing my house.
Not jacking driving in around 96 , that was the time when the job started to change for the worse with rules and regs, then to dumb right down to ■■■■, and eventually turn to the dog crap it is now with all the clowns who think they are doing a good job running it.
Jack Euro in (although because of redundancy) and end up with the outfit I’m with now…although tbf I have managed to side step all the crap and ‘do my own thing’ there, so I’m ok with it.
Regret not being lucky enough to get 6 correct numbers (every ■■■■ week ) although I’d end up giving most of it away to family and mates.
Reckon all that that just about sums up my life.
Honestly i wish i lost the race to the egg
Age 17 working on a chase boat in the channel looking after a Norwegian seismic survey vessel, at the end of the 3 month stint I was offered the opportunity to join the ship on a 6 month sting surveying around South Africa, I had the impression from my contact on board it could easily turn into something permanent. But after 3 months on board a small boat in the channel I wanted to get home for a while before moving on.
Regretted from almost the day I said no.
Wish I never bothered getting my hgv licences. ah well.

Worse thing I ever did was to go to sea but the funny thing is after 54 years I’m still bloody doing it …
Gone into…
Offshore derivative funding working on initialising hedge funds for overseas and government investors to increase their percentage margins on the insurance bond marketing system.
sumfink in the city wot pays better than driving a scabby lorry
as much as I still enjoy driving class 1’s I also wish I’d gone on the rail instead, apparently they earn this thing called money, strange concept I know, I mean how can they not prefer peanuts like what I get?
I also enjoyed farming as a young’un in my summer hols but that’s hard work long hours and even worse pay again so nah, no thanks…

I just wish I’d retired 45 years ago, instead of wasting the time working!
