No crap celebrities.

Switchlogic and Sir Bertie have to go though, star attraction!

British trucks only. Or what phillip said.

Saaamon:
British trucks only.

Basically that would be a fire engine and a dustcart then.

does there have to be trucks there?

Yes, I want there to be or not be as the case may be, something for everyone…

Free entry, with an online registration.

Free parking for trucks (with trailers) on hard standing.

Indoor displays, from major manufacturers and others.

Street items at street prices for food and drinks.

An organised display of custom and vintage trucks.

Speakers from the industry holding seminars.

Lots of fit birds in lycra.

Which is exactly what I’ve had from the two shows I’ve attended in the USA, one in Louisville, Kentucky and one in Dallas, Texas.

Having been to truckfest, both as a visitor and to write about it, I have to say it’s a good idea on paper, but the execution lets it down…a lot, but at least there is something, under the circumstances I think that’s a good thing really

What about a show like they have in Italy?

If you seen the videos on you tube you know what I’m on about.

Woman washing the trucks, looks a good laugh, all done on like tarmac’ed ground no muddy trucks

They should move Truckfest to the old air base at Upper Heyford. Use the runway and easy access from M40 and A34…

Thers a big difference tho between MATS, Dallas and TruckFest, they are more akin to the CV show- aimed very much at the trade and therefore the exhibitors expect to do “Business” there. At MATS there is a “Unofficial” Drivers show, complete with the BBQ’s and Beer held a few miles away at Papa Johns to keep the revelry seperate from the serious business but MATS lay on a free shuttle bus to the exhibition centre from there for drivers to make the attendee’s numbers up

Truckfest is more a festival/social event- none of the major players make any money at TruckFest- it costs them to be there, but because it is the biggest event for drivers they feel they should attend and support it. so its not a fair comparison

Doesn’t alter the fact that Truckfest is a con.

Non extortionate ticket prices and food.

To be fair someone I know has an ice cream van and the cost to get a pitch at big events like truckfest causes high prices rather than just been greedy.

For sure, from past experience of working on the show circuit I would guess at least £1000 for a pitch for an ice-cream van for the weekend and probably a lot more.

Same at military vehcile shows.
Got talking to a burger wagon owner at 1 show and he was charged £1000 PER DAY to be there.
The thing I find with food wagons at shows is that the prices are outrageous and the food is crap!
