What did u do your training / test in?

Im intrested to see what others done there training / test in.

So i done class c in a nice semi auto scania (for those unsure its just auto with a clutch) i really enjoyed it and size of driving some thing bigger then a few others at test centre.

Same - D series ford artic with 6 straight gears towing a 30 foot flatbed trailer in 1988

Class 2, Trained & Test in a D series Ford Flatbed, around 1985.
Class 1, Trained in my Brother in Laws Iveco with a 13 speed crash box, pulling a Fridge, finished training & test in a 6 Speed Daf, pulling a twin axle 30ft tanker, 1992.

CAT C

was auto aswell, bricking it if I ever have to drive manual

passed my Cat C in a Daf CF with a 4 over 4
and Cat C+E Man TGS 400 Auto.

Cat C was a Renault Midlum 26T with 8 speed slapover box

Cat C+E was one of Peter Smythe’s Iveco W+D manual 8 speed

I hate them just think they are a wast of time as you only need the cloth to move off & when you stop can easy forget why not make it a full auto or a manual

i asked that question and was told “autos bounce around a lot” and with a clutch at least u have some control still.

Passed my C in a DAF CF, manual

Passed C+E in a W+D MAN, manual

Both with Chevron

Driven plenty autos & manuals never really had that problem only really had in the MAN unless it was in R1 which is the slow mode

1994: Cat D. in a 1978 Bedford YMT plaxton body
1997: Cat C. Scania 93
1997: Cat CE Scania 113.

Leyland Mastiff, straight to class 1 in those days.
