I’ve only ever come across one Maltese truck. That was in Munchen a few years ago when I went over with my dad. I am now starting to see a few Cypriot trucks on the road, very surprised when I saw my first one.

On another note. This week when I was travelling south on the A1 from Scotch Corner I noticed a car that was right hand driver but had a green number plate with yellow/orange numbers and letters. I’ve never seen anything like it before and wondered what the heck it was? Perhaps it was British and the number plate was for a certain branch of something like they have in other countries or it was foreign, but it had no indication of nationality on the plate or the car itself.

the one i have seen is trailer express red trailer i think.

also seen the one from gibraltar with english plates

I believe GBZ is Gibraltar

I see Maltese registered Volvo F10’s no less quite regularly around the Midlands. Usually run by Express Trailers in an orange livery. We sometimes take Maltese export freight down to Express Freight at Tilbury.

Even though the trucks are obviously old they look well cared for. I think they come on the ferry from Malta to Italy then road it the rest of the way.

Talking about foreign plates seen on UK roads, the furthest one from home I have seen was a Aussie Ford car running on Australian plates - I assume it had been imported and not re-resgistered.

Quite a few English drivers work for Maltese companys, used to load with them regular at Hemel, Concorde is another Maltese company that is over here a lot, think there is still a couple of English drivers on there.

Furthest truck from home I’ve ever seen has to be an Iranian parked in Zeebrugge Truck stop about 5 or 6 years ago, it looked like a right old tank. Also used to see Saudi’s at Tundermans in Europoort.

From what I can gather, a few of the Cypriot trucks that run to western Europe have English lads working for them.

Saw a Scania on Birch services a few weeks ago.

It had no country sticker and was not sign written. Didn’t recognise the number plate either.

Saw the driver was of ‘Middle Eastern’ appearance, I guessed at one of the arab countries.

Turned out he had come from Iran and after doing several drops in mainland europe and a final drop in Manchester, he was waiting for his return load.

Asking how long it had taken him to get to Manchester, he replied “20 days”.

Perhaps now is not the time to complain about a night out!

I have been seen Morocco truck (twice) and Iran truck (third). In weekend, Heston MSA - sometime there Iran truck parking over the weekends.

He might be waiting a while!

When my dad used to run to Germany ever week and I went with him I remember going for three weeks in a row and for two and a half weeks this one Turkish truck was parked in Krefeld Truckstop waiting for his return load, he must have been bored [zb]!

If it needs stars to get it past the auto-censor, then it’s not allowed.L.
