Maybe he was telling the to get the ■■■■ out his trailer as he will get a massive fine. But hey it’s always good to jump to conclusions

I looked at it that way, no point being aggressive with them when you are outnumbered by that many. It’s easier and safer to act sympathetic, as in I’m sorry your life is rubbish, but it’s a big fine to me if I put you in the back of the trailer. Better to defuse the situation than get mouthy and get a punch in the mouth for your trouble.

Having said that, the video isn’t clear and we weren’t there as Tom the driver was, who would have a clearer view.

I assume you are referring to the driver filming it?

Watching a driver deal with apparent ‘illegals’ on his own, while he is in his cab filming the lot for Facebook.

Anyone with any balls or care for the job, would have gone over to see if he needed a hand surely.

A Ray White driver, they wouldn’t lower themselves.

No visible padlocks on the trailer, if they are in Belgium were did they get in, as others have said nice of the camera man to offer assistance, but the dmg driver handled the situation very well.

If this driver was trafficking them, why the hell would he let them out in broad daylight in a busy place for some muppet to sit in his cab and film?

It’s obvious he heard them in there and told them to get out before he gets a massive fine. Yes he was joking and being friendly. You better be when there are 15+ people in the back of your truck desperate to get where they are going.

Now thanks to Mr big balls filming it, this driver will probably get a kicking anyway from his company and the authorities.

Don’t really know what he is saying but one thing is don’t get violent with them as only one winner.
If I hadn’t seen the glistening knife one had in the lights in the car park of pidu transmarc one night I might not be here now,
Iv never run up in to my cab as fast in my life, proper scared me

I had my scare in the late 90’s at the automated Shell pump on the industrial estate just before the ferry, may have been the naivety of youth filling up there at night.

Same here I was only young then, remember getting back and all the mouth pieces saying “I’d of ■■■■■■ smacked em” etc etc,I’m not afraid to say I cramped me Sen and openly admit after that I used to run over my time just to avoid stoping…

If you go into All 4 Trucks it is a common sight to see the company that has a picture of the sun on its blue trailers regularly unloading live cargo from further afield in Europe so if the driver is trafficking chances of anything happening to him are slim. Haven’t watched the video but chances are that if they are getting out amicably then he has brought them in, most will refuse to get out until you call the police or some may get out and others remain on the trailer.

No TIR cord? No padlock? There is a school of thought that says if youre a ways off the ports you dont put these on as you dont want to appear to have a valuable cargo. Unsealed trailer = rubbish load so youre left alone. Seals and locks after doing a check and starting final run in.
Trailer wasnt loaded to the doors that I could see, could have been part empty even? At the end driver climbs into trailer...making wild guess here.. not empty, but part loaded, and he wants to check there are none hiding in nooks and crannies? So, maybe he didnt know how many were in there to start with? So, he wasnt there when they entered?? As for the fines bit, as I understand it, youll cop a fine if you havent taken reasonable precautions to prevent clandestines entering the UK or a French customs zone. Check your trailer, park sensibly, and put a lock on, and youll be legally OK.
If I personally were to suspect I had any inside, when approaching a Channel port before shipping in, I would either phone the local police if a long way out, or approach the port with lots of headlight flashing and tell them of my suspicions.
The majority of them seem to treat it almost as a game: so long as they keep out of jail, they keep trying until they get their ride in. They win. Or at least thats their goal. If caught they just try again and again....If they dont do anything violent they arent imprisoned or deported. No point in them getting nasty and getting "sent home", they lose. Call them what you like, but to get where they are, they are at the very least street wise. But some do take a nasty turn, and for that reason I wouldnt try to get em out myself. Me and my beer belly, wont calm down a half dozen frustrated migrants as effectively as a van full of gendarme with automatic rifles.

this is where running a fridge pays dividends even if its not switched on.
if they wont come out, lock them in ,then half an hour at minus 25 means it looks like a breakdancing competition as they stagger out the back door.

Franglais not so sure about streetwise just prepared to pay a lot to get there, a friend spoke to a Syrian family while he was parked up in Boulogne fish market last year, parents and two teenage daughters had paid 26,000 US dollars to get to England but the pick up for the last leg from Belgium to the UK never materialised and so made their own way to the coast but said he couldn’t use Calais as it was to dangerous for his daughters. The father spoke perfect English and said he was a dentist shame people who have something to offer can’t get in, yet the thugs and the like that use Calais seem to be able to

Fair comment.
There are all sorts trying to get in by the back door. Some undoubtedly clever resourceful people who would be an asset. Some who may of heard about the streets paved with gold, and want a bit of that easy stuff for themselves.
Maybe I should have said its not in their interests to be violent etc. Whether theyve paid cash or used guile, they mostly arent about to do something to get themselves sent back. As I see it, so long as they arent violent, there are no penalties for them “having a go” at stowing away? Occasionally some seem to forget that and will lash out, but mostly it`s a van ride to the nick, some half hearted* questioning and a walk back to try again.

*If the full rule book is thrown at them it will cost the local authorities a lot of time and cash to sort it out. If they return to the ports to try again, eventually someone else…will get to sort em out. Or maybe Im a tad cynical there? The security and cops Ive seen, do take their work seriously, but I have doubts about the political will above them. Ive used the phrase "send em home" but can see, its not that simple.
