In fairness, my CPC trainer was fed up with the whole thing too and although he taught the course well, he was more interested in asking me about the ins and outs of becoming an owner driver every time we had a break.
Delivering the same classroom course time after time must get boring
Its not like practical training where things are different each time and the trainer gets varying feedback from it and has to adapt according to each trainee

I’m not so sure about that to be honest, if the trainer is delivering the same course over and over again to a silent class it must be boring, but wouldn’t that also mean the trainer was probably doing something wrong ?

A good trainer will try to interact as best they can but that usually means going off at different tangets out of the course remit
Done a couple and they are pretty mind numbing, theres always an idiot who wont shut up aswell. The last one i attended was done by the company trainer, he’s an old boy, knows his stuff and pretty decent bloke to be fair, he’d say to us he doesnt know everything and will always listen and learn from us aswell, you cant say fairer than that.
Sorry to be the odd one out but just returned and I quite enjoyed it!
It was just 2 of us at MAN in Trafford Park. Quick run down of the TGX trucks followed by a drive on a set route with a fully loaded (weighted) trailer and all driving data was recorded. We then came back and had a session about eco driving and then did the test again and the results were unbelievavle.
Anyway, it was good, free grub & drinks, and even an MAN goody bag! All paid for!!

Maybe you enjoyed it Redbob 'cos it wasn’t classroom based. You were actually out on the road enjoying something beneficial. I don’t think anyone with any sense would say they know it all and have nothing to learn. Imo the problem with the dcpc is that it’s an ill conceived, ill thought out cobbled together mishmash that generally only benefits Government figures and largely unemployable providers.

It does get a little tedious at times if you get to do the same course day after day but - just like practical training, by involving all in the room the days do vary remarkably and no two tend to go exactly the same. It is all about adapting to each trainee exactly as you would a practical session.
The very worse case is you get someone attending the same course 2 or 3 times … that is hard work and I do wish they would change the rules on that

Don’t think I have had a silent class yet - I won’t let them If that is what is happening then the trainer can’t do their job.

I am guessing your employer must have leased or purchased some MANs? Amazing how they can throw in good value training when someone spends tens of thousands eh? Now ask them how much it’d be for that course without buying a truck.
