What can I drive on a catagory C licence

Hi all,
When I passed my test for a car almost 40 years ago I was really chuffed to find I could also drive a Agricultural tractor, mowing machine and lorry up to 7,500kg etc.
When I pass my test (hopefully) for a cat C lorry what will that allow me to drive? for instance will it let me drive a minibus?
Also are the hazard perception tests the same as the car test or are they tailored for LGV’s.

Cat. C will allow you to drive any rigid goods vehicle with a trailer up to 750kgs. PCV’s (buses and coaches) come under the separate cat. D although you should already have D1 on your licence which allows you to drive minibuses but not for hire and reward.

If it doesn’t bend or have more than 7 seats, you can drive it. Simple answer. No big trailers either.
If it does have more than 7 seats, you can drive it under limited circumstances, usually without people on, and on a road test or on the way to an MOT or the like (stuff bus mechanics do all the time basically)

Where did you get the seven from?

8 passenger seats + 1 driver’s seat = 9.

As you passed your test a long time ago, your current car licence will allow you to drive a minibus with up to 16 passenger seats - not for hire or reward. A full C licence will not change this.

As well as goods vehicles up to 32t with a trailer up to 750 kgs, you will also be able to drive specialist vehicles such as fire engines, cranes and mobile homes weighing over 7.5t

As for the theory test, depends when you take it. If before 1 July, then there will be 60 questions as well as 14 hazard perception clips . If on or after this date, then there will be 100 questions and 19 hazard perception vids. The questions are very much tailored towards driving LGVs.
