What are those button on the i-shift box for?

Had me first go in a volvo 06 plate I-shift today…excellent ■■■■…

but:
a) What is the “FOLD” button for on top of the gear stick for??..

b) What does the paddle switch on the side (drivers) do…■■?

c) What is the “L” button for■■?.. (It’s on the back of the box)

d) When it’s in auto…how do you knock it down a gear to increase the rev’s on a hill…(it seem to change up just that little bit too early)

Had a great day overall…and was well impressed with everything…athough not to keen on the sound system…Scania sounds for me anyday

1: folds the stick down (press it and push forward)

2: the paddle is for manual .put the box into (M) and use these for manual mode(good for holding a gear uphill)

2: you may have kickdown on the peddle(dssabled by my employer) to use this floor the thottle right down past the gate you’ll fell the peddle click past it and the box knocks down a gear

or press the (P) button ( P = performace) and will hold gears higher up the revs and knock down soon …

3: (L) is limp home mode in case you have a prob with the box it will limp home at 30mph

why not experiment with it you can’t break anything

hope this helps

MARKY

Fold button will allow you to “stow” the gear selector in a forward position. It works OK when stationary, never tried when mobile.

The paddle switch is the gear up/down when driving manually.

Not familiar with this one. Those I have driven have an E/P switch which is to select Economy or Power mode. Ours are inoperative by spec and fixed in the economy mode.

I think you can over ride the auto and select an alternative gear but then I tend to let the box have it’s head and given time you get used to it. Remember that an autobox with be controlled with the throttle alone not a throttle and clutch. It’s taken me ages to get anywhere near comfortable with the DAF autobox.

Failing that you could always do the girlie thing and look at the drivers manual!

That my coat■■?

hi there, firstly

a, the fold button is for when you are parked and in neutral…press the fold button and you can mave the whole shifter forward out of the way to aid better access across the cab.

b, the paddles are for when you are in manual mode…they change the gears up and down. Put your thumb horizontally on the button an you wont go far wrong.

c, dont know for sure but i presume it means low■■? for steep hill starts etc■■?

hope this helps

no replies when i started typing

Just to add my tuppenceworth. :stuck_out_tongue:

The switch on the side of the lever can also be used with the the gear selector in ‘A’ in certain circumstances. Look at the ‘flags’ on the display next to the gear display - this will show you how many gears, and in which direction you can go.

The ‘Limp’ mode gives you four low gears to get you off the road and out of harms way.

Due to our varied fleet, I am lucky enough ( :unamused: ) to have driven all of the current AMTs out there except M-B PowerShift (usually at four o’clock in the morning in the pitch black :unamused: :unamused: ), and Volvo I-Shift is the dogs danglies as far as I’m concerned. Far superior to the rest

I’d definitely recommend reading the manual if you can get hold of one.

The I shift in conjunction with the engine brake is an amazing piece of kit as well.

Apart from twisting the wheel, it doesnt really need me :stuck_out_tongue:

Too true. Just make sure that you are wearing your seatbelt before letting rip on the ‘B’ setting!!

And make sure there’s no cars up your arse, or if they are so far up it you can’t see them in mirrors then knock it straight into B I guess  that’s their fault…
