Can anyone tell me what are PORT CARDS PLEASE 
Cards to scan yourself in/out of containers ports, especially ones that are run without human influence IE robots.

They worked fine in Europe 25 years ago, enter your reference number park squarely on the pad, the robots could find you and if everything lined up it sat a box on the pins, right way round too, if you needed it turning you had to report to the depot garage where they would do a manual lift.

Only had one issue at both Liverpool and London gateway where the robot got ‘confused’ but the rest of the time they were slick and you could be in and out in 10mins if just getting one box lift for example.
i have seen a job tat looks intresting but it says “port cards” an advantage. What are they… is it a proper qualification or just some boys club that says you hve passed the site rules for each port

I wouldn’t worry about it mate, we don’t all read and remember every thread that’s posted so these things happen.

They all got their own thing. Normally the first time you go you have to watch a 5min video and answer a few questions. Southampton you do it online in advance.

Teesport
London Gateway
Avonmouth
Immingham
you need cards. Liverpool you have to pay to get one. Your company should pay you back the money. London Gateway its billed to the company. Southampton and internal railheads you need vbs ref numbers.
