What am I doing wrong?

I put my missus through her first car licence just after the hazard perception test was introduced.

I failed abysmally on all of the practice videos available at the time & was unable to school the missus through hers.

She failed it twice . . . untill a sympathetic examination centre employee told her to click once every 8 seconds !!!

I don’t know if this still works & frankly I don’t care. The whole lot is so flawed it is unbelievable, we are still schooling people in how to pass a test, NOT in how to drive a vehicle.

thanks night spirit I shall do that!!

The way I teach this is firstly treat it as a video game - this is what it is in reality
secondly imagine you are driving the vehicle with the camera in it - when something happens in your view then react to it.

You will almost certainly click earlier than required, this is ok and do this - wait 1 second then click again - wait 2 seconds then click for a third time.

This will help to ensure that at least 1 of the mouse clicks will be in the scoring window - do not hold off waiting for the time when you think it is right as this will lead to you missing the timing they are looking for.

Hope this helps

John

Quick update: 3rd time lucky!!
Did absolutely nothing different and I know I cocked up one scenario because I didn’t think it was a relevant hazard (not considering the hazards in other scenarios that they ignored).

Will now sort out practical training & test

Well done and all the best with your practical. Pete

wots the going rate for the class2■■?

training price = around the £1000 mark

PASSED that hazard perception      just waiting for the paper work, wots the going rate for the class2■■?

Congratulations on the pass. BTW you don’t need to wait for the paperwork before you book practical.

Where are you in the country?

Hi Pete
Thanks for the congrats, I`m in the Southampton area

Ha Ha, seems I’m better at actual driving than the video games of the Hazard Perception test - Passed my Cat’ C today

Wel done

Feels good to pass

Well done pal - crack on!

Congratulations! Enjoy it mate, you’ve earned it!

Congratulations on a great result - just shows your hazard perception was good enough otherwise you would have possibly had a different result - not a huge fan of the hazard perception test for experienced drivers as you may guess

John

Congrats on passing, I passed both my hazard perception and theory last week. I read something the night before taking the test that when you see a hazard click the mouse 3 times with a second between each click. This is what I did and I strongly think it worked as I got 90/100 on the hazard. I know you’ve both passed now but hopefully help others due to sit theirs. You have to know how the computer is thinking, I always look well in advance off what is happening as well as right under my nose. I saw a hazard on one video that was a good distance away so a clicked and scored zero. Luckily it was on the practice software at home
