I’ve just passed my Class 2 and am booked in for Class 1, CPC4 and ADR. While I’m in the mood for training, and while I still have time in my week to do it, I’m wondering what other courses are useful. I just scanned some agency ads and HIAB seems to come up quite a lot. What about Moffet? And what about FLT? Is it ever useful to be able to use a fork lift? Anything else? Thank you!

Just learn the art of making a coffee and rolling a cig whilst getting thrown all over at 56mph…
Having FLT might come in handy if you ever apply to places where they run a wagon or two with a Moffet on the back. I suppose the other benefit of having an FLT ticket is being able to load yourself, no waiting around for the usual monkey to finish his ■■■ break.

Your forkies have valid tickets?
On the flip side Radar, why would I want to be loaded quicker and have that responsibility?
If I’m paid the same and can sit around doing nothing, I’m not going to lose any sleep over it…
I might actually gain some!
Good point Evil8Beezle!!
Thanks Radar19. After your message I went online to search vacancies and did find jobs where they listed FLT as a bonus so in vacancies like that I guess having the FLT ticket would put you ahead of the crowd if it was a job that particularly appealed to you. I have seen an add mention reach truck qualification too. And quite a few mention HIAB. So it does look like these qualifications can be handy.

Most do, nearly all of our lot are pretty good, a few are grumpy and do a runner when we show up to load/unload. Also, time is money for me so sitting around isn’t an option. I get paided the same if I do the job in 6 or 14.
