As well as ACAS, if you have legal cover on your employer’s insurance make sure you consult them before taking action. They have been known to refuse to cover tribunal costs if they are not consulted before disciplinary action is taken…

All sorted thanks, just a friendly word about not smoking in my company car done the trick in the end
For now
You come across as being abit nervous about being firm, dont be scared to put your foot down when needed, ■■■■■ footing round staff basically hands them control and they need to know who calls the shots. You cant be rude but you cant be walked over, your the leader!

Thing is, all you have to do is leave the window open a few inches when you’re smoking then leave both windows down for 5 minutes before you get back to base and no one would be any the wiser, is he also a bit thick?
■■■■■■■■! Another daft post from ss! The ash gets blown all over the cab. Gose into every crease and crevice. Smokers also have dirty hands that leaves a dirty sheen on the steering wheel. Takes me ten minuites with baby wipes when I get my unit off a smoker and even then theres ash all over.
If the reply from ‘ss’ is a load of ■■■■■■■■ what the hell is this then ‘Smokers also have dirty hands’’
I smoke and drive and also have the window cracked open but my hands are clean.
If my hands were dirty I wouldn’t be able pick my nose between ■■■■.

or get a proper glass ashtray, open the window/and sunroof if you have one. ash doesnt get blown about and you can keep the truck clean. tbh smoking in the truck happens but smoking in a company car is taking the ■■■■.

Very much agree with that, i packed them in just over 12 months ago and having to drive a cab that somebody smokes in makes me feel sick so i now carry a can of neturadol to fumigate the cab and keep the window open most the time

Thrice ■■■■■■■■
Ash gets blown about, so does dust, sand and pollen, it all ends up on the dash and in your lungs, it is baby wipes that leave a sheen.
Pubs have been ruined, offices are impossible to pass without getting run over and little Hitler councils are handing out fixed penalties to keep the bloody nimbys happy.
We have just come back from France and stayed in 3 hotels, every room had an ashtray or a window that opened.
It takes me 10 minutes to chuck tobacco all around on the floor
The company I mainly work for (as Agency) has 15 dedicated Volvo’s (fleet owned) all with regular uniformed Drivers that drive and keep them clean etc. That’s fair enough of course and in the past I’ve been there myself; but these days I just can’t wear a uniform. All have an ‘Agency Drivers don’t smoke etc’, little ‘love’ letter in them. They also have two Salford Hire Scania’s, yet, every bugger and his Mother will smoke in those, Agency, regulars etc, etc. I am an occassional smoker, but, only smoke in my own vehicles or when at home. It’s the hypocrisy thet gets to me. When I worked for GIST, they sacked two Drivers on the spot when two covert security guards where ‘surreptitiously’ placed a mile down the road and photographed them lighting up. Big companies, forget it. . .
I smoke like a chimney, I’m away for a week at a time, sometimes more, in that time I’ll go through a 200 carton and my cab does not smell of smoke, the boss took my motor out a few weekends ago and commented on how nice it smelled in there
I keep the cab clean with a paint brush and a yellow duster, I also have one of those air freshener things that goes off every 15mins, I always have a window down an inch or two, simple but effective
