As usual KCC blaming everyone else when they have known about the problems for over 30 years .
KCC really are a waste of space .

Blame the County Council?
How much real control do they have over spending? Aren’t thrir hands tied by central Gov? And isn’t the parking issue due in large part to port traffic servicing other parts of the country? It’s part of a lack of a coherent National policy on roads, trucks, parking and …the “B” word…

KCC were going to build 5 lorry parks for upto 250 in each , but eventually did nothing ( as usual)
They have fudged and miss managed every transport issue for years .
Op stack , Manston airport, town bypasses etc etc .

Agree with this…all County Councils are suffering from cuts to their budget from central government but KCC is unique due to the amount of cross channel freight which services the rest of the country, they should get extra funding for things like truck parks purely because of this

Totally agree. This should be a central government led issue. How much of the freight traffic stays in Kent? Should KCC really be expected to foot the bill and build the truck stops we all know are desperately needed. I think not personally.

Meanwhile if you haven’t driven along the A20 section between Junctions 10 and 11 of the M20 recently, KCC have decided to narrow the carriageway through Sellindge village to accommodate the ‘needs’ of a large new housing estate being built. By the looks of it two lorries passing one another is going to be a little tricky. Better stock up on mirrors now . Of course they’ve covered all bases by stickin up a sign at J10 proclaiming that the A20 is ‘unsuitable’ for HGVs.

KCC never have had a brain to share around among the lot of them, so it is hardly surprising that they haven’t noticed that if the M20 is shut East of Ashford because of an accident, then the only alternative is the A20. Some will recall a couple of years ago when Operation Stack was in place that it took about three hours to get along that section of the A20 and that was only because of two sets of traffic lights.

Let’s bring it on next week for a trial run through as the holiday season starts.
