What a day.

So, drove 150 miles today from Wallingford to Bury St Edmund with 22 pallets of cardboard packaging to green king/St Peters brewery, handed paperwork in to be told I was 9 days early and to take it all back to Thatcham. Traffic was horrendous on the way up as well, what a complete waste of time and diesel.

Anyone else had similar happen?

For a Well known Crisp company … we would go Bristol to Warrington empty then go from Warrington to Leicester empty then guess what Yep Leicester back to Bristol EMPTY on more than one occasion :unamused:

I’ve transported fresh air quite a few times now:)

Would probably have been cheaper to put it into store and get it delivered when required by local contractor. There are a few round BSE.

I don’t think there’s much difference to an empty trailer and a full load of crisps. Ever brought a bag of air - sorry, Walkers - lately?

Tru dat…
I’ll bet there’s not a pallet of spuds in a full artic load of crisps…

I got sent from Bristol to Hirwaun, Merthyr, once (£19ish for the Bridge) about 50 miles, only to be told that I was a week early. Lol. (Came all the way back to MK with a trailer fully loaded with Fresh Air)

I’ve gone from Dumfries to leicester empty, then had to go back up to Wigan empty from leicester, good fuel economy

Did an over nighter to Cramlington once to pick up a big lump of metal from a fabricators, they said it would be ready, it wasn’t lol so they where charged £600 for the pleasure of seeing me head out empty lol

once went to hamburg (in a van ) got there Friday afternoon , forkie unloads the two pallets then returns ,signals/gestures for me to open the doors again and then puts them back  seems I wasn’t expected until Monday. after a strange conversation in a mixture of my poor german and the supervisors poor English it was agreed that if I bought the coffees they would take them off and store them until Monday . I still think I was the victim of a wind up !

Express, Alcester, some years ago.

Waited 3 hours in canteen for a drive . Driver comes in - quick chat, he’s off in a minute,

Office lady comes in and interrupts our chat, with load for me.

I go and collect paperwork, and do all the necessary and get underway, Asda, Washington.

Four and a half hours later I pull in, book in and get on bay, only one pallet. (Full artic).

In pulls chatty driver from canteen, he also has one pallet!

Two artics, Alcester to Washington, 1 pallet each!

I took an empty Securicor trailer down to Southampton from Hatfield on a Monday afternoon shift quite a few years ago, gets there and was told " there’s nothing here for you drive,it all went on last nights trunk to Hatfield " OK says I and phones transport at Hatfield to tell them - " No problem " they said, just head back !

The same thing happened on Wednesday and Thursday of the same week

I miss that place

I used to do a regular Sunday run from Arla at severnside with dollies of milk to their Leeds and Coatbridge sites. Was never more than 1/3 loaded and normaly once I’d tipped Leeds would maybe be 5 or 6 dollies left for Coatbridge. Then 90% of the time would run back with a full load of fresh air to Grimsby.

went to berlin with two pianos cust not expecting them phone office okay never mind bring them back so I did what a waste of money time and effort

Wow, looking at all this wasted time and money, I can’t imagine why the pay is so ■■■■ lol :unamused:

I went from Bury St Edmunds Brewery to K&N Thatcham today!

BSE brewery is a [zb]hole.

Hah! We haul for saicapack right next to K&N, which is all the cardboard packaging. Probably saw all the trailers parked down the road, QTR, Jack Richards, Crabtree etc

Once ran empty from Huntingdon to Bristol to pick up and shift one load of pipes approx one and a half mile from storage yard to site.
When I arrived there the customers HIAB wagon was already on site. Their driver complaining he wasn’t busy.
Back home in my own bed that night though!
