I have had loads of jobs over the years through one reason or another, not proud of it but I will not take crap off employers, never have never will, there are plenty of courier companies I could fall back on by getting my own van and subbing for them, you can make good money if you try,the only downside is going self employed but I would if I had to

GoodI hope the [zb] struggles with his workload.
I bet OP has already been replaced by agency bod on mor£…
A friend of mine was rung by his boss and told he had another pickup for him, my friend told him he couldn’t do it because he was out of hours, he was then told he was therefore sacked when he got back, fair enough he said and walked in his office 48 hours later and put the keys on his desk, the ■■■■■■■■ got up looked in the yard and asked where was the truck, still in Milan my mate said I flew back.

Still up?

Ive never understood why people feel loyalty to their boss in this industryIve had literally hundreds of jobs in this industry and have left for all sorts of minor reasons :
Boss gets new range rover , hire motors a DAF , Have to turn round to fill ad blue , coffee machine robbed me , dont like colour of lorry , radio has no AUX socket , didnt pay me a night out by mistake , marker light out on trailer , number plate cracked , frilly curtains , phoned me on day off , changed start time , doesnt do ride to work scheme , office dude didnt say morning , no secure bike racks , no clean car park ,grumpy forkies, no pay rise after first week ,delivery in bradford , subbying for culina etcThese are all reasons ive quit this year alone
And drivers wonder why they are treated like pond life ! Act like ■■■■■■ Treated like ■■■■■■■
Although I applaud you running a cyclist over, you shouldn’t have incriminated yourself by posting it…
Oh maybe it’s just me then.

Good for you, the whole reason drivers get the ■■■■ taken out of them is because we don’t stand up for ourselves.I walked from a job last night to supposed to be 1900 start, turn up, it took an hour to locate the vehicle keys, then half an hour to locate the paperwork, then I couldn’t hook up to trailer because it was would be in way of entrance, then there were no straps available to secure load…
I was honest with myself and them and told them that I had already been awake for 12 hours and was in no fit state to work for another 11 hours 9 of which were driving. So yet again lost a day of my life and no pay because people think they can disrespect me and take the ■■■■.
To make things worse I got chatting to a guy from another agency and he was on £3 an hour more than me!!!
Cheerio
Why were you turning up for a night shift when you’d been up all day?
Because the agency are telling me that it is the only work available, and I was more than capable of carrying out my shift if the client had the vehicle and load ready at the time they said it was, I don’t know about you but I can’t abide waiting around doing nothing and it saps the life out of me.

Agency driver…
Yes mate I am an agency driver, not through choice but by circumstance, so when I am told that is the only work available I have to accept it, I have bills to pay. So rather than spout “agency driver” perhaps you should spout “my that was professional of you accepting that you were too fatigued to do the shift” and not end up in a hedge like we are continually see LGV drivers do as they are made to drive stupid hours…
Conor:
I’m agency too but I don’t turn up for a night shift after I’ve been up all day. No amount of money can compensate for how crap you feel halfway through the shift and the following day as a result of being up more than 24hrs straight.
Conor I can assure you it was a shift I do not like doing but was perfectly fit to do it if the company had not kept me hanging around for hours after my supposed start time, so I felt crap before I was even allowed to hook up because of their poor organisation and I was man enough to go home ( rather than end up in a hedge) and admit I was too fatigued to complete the shift.

So…after an hour and a half of ‘hanging around’ you were too fatigued to complete the shift…but turned up perfectly fine to do what could have been a 12 hr plus shift?
Really?

+1
So then, after being awake all day and going in for a night shift it was the “hanging around” that made you fatigued was it? You’re funny I’ll have to watch out for your posts in future
