Wetherby lorry park

Mate of mine parked at wetherby last night he said notice up saying it will shut on 27 February . Morrisons are building car park on it ! Another good spot gone

They want the stuff in the shops. Its you they don’t want. I’m sure some of the lorry haters think it all arrives by magic.

The lorry haters you refer to will say that there are alternative facilities at Wetherby services and you shouldn’t be bringing your nasty trucks into my town that was built to be serviced bu horse and cart.

Fine. Come and fetch your stuff from the services.

My idea is to make all car drivers drive a truck on private land, when they take the car test.
They would then realise about blind spots, tacho rules, reversing.
It may stop them turning in to anti lorry haters when they are older.

If you can park for Johnny Foreigner

I was being sarcastic.

I bet they don’t even fill the car park allready outside the store! I always thought that the lorry park was shutting down when the services was built anyway and didn’t realise it was still open until about 2 year ago :unamused:
I bet the land owners have made a tidy little sum off the sale. Was it council owned or private? I know a chap worked out of a cabin it wasn’t by pay by machine.

Have you been to Wetherby services lately?. If you are not parked by about half seven the place is usually full.

Where is this truck stop, I could only find free parking on the industrial estate roads, there were wagons everywhere.
Then I stumbled on the social club that was full of drivers and locals as there was Tango dancing classes.
The club does hot meals for about four quid, and I was made very welcome, nice beer. ?

Why do these local councilor type ■■■■■■■■ s think that parking in some overpriced rip off ■■■■■■ service area is an acceptable alternative to parking on the edge of town where there are pubs cafes and shops. Yeh I know the answer , they don’t give a ■■■■ :smiling_imp:
It was the same thing when Ponty shut, they want their stuff delivered but when you are done just ■■■■ off and park away from their town until next time.

Just google " Wetherby lorry park" and click on the first link about the lorry park closing in 2012. Just read what a local resident has to say about trucks should not be there and only to deliver to the supermarket and that’s it, then a jobsworth counciler has his two penneth and says the same :unamused:
It makes your blood boil that tossers think like this :imp:

Every time I stayed there I always spent a few quid in town on a beer and fish & chips.
Most drivers that used it seemed to respect it apart from a few that made a racket coming back drunk.
These town lorry parks are now sadly been phased out.
Is the Northallerton one still open■■?

Just tried to get to wetherby lorry park. It is now closed for refurbishment.
Thatll mean itll probably never reopen for hgvs. The sandbeck industrial estatehas yellow lines everywhere only space for about six lorries. Cars parked all over so no parking there.
All town councils are now seeming to adopt the attitude of no lorries overnight but they still want their bread at 6 in the morning. Its time the RHA and other organisations stood up and fought our corner for better treatment and facilities.

The RHA fight for better facilities for drivers, more chance of Jennifer Anniston coming and servicing you when you are parked up
