Driving into Nottingham along the tree lined A52 part that borders Wollaton Park, I was ‘GOBSMACKED’ to witness a council bod, merrily using his shoulder launched leaf blower to blow them nasty buggerz off the pavement . . . & into the road
Note: Road sweeper nowhere in sight !
I was alright. A mixture of experience & ABS kept me in a straight line, but if any students just happened to be crossing on the red light I shot through, well . . . I wouldn’t have fancied there chances.
I feel for the 7.5t behind me, I was watching his approach from behind with an intense yet morbid curiosity in my mirrors, I could actually see the expression on his face change as he realised he wasn’t going to stop in time. I chose to move forwards a few feet rather than brace for impact, good choice methinks ! He came to a stop sideways on & literally inches from my heavily reinforced rear end.
Should we have 999’d what was obviously very dangerous road conditions? Or, should we both vent our spleens in a very nastily worded letter to the City Council’s highways dept?
