Westmoorland Gloucester services

One drivers shower per side just isn’t good enough to be honest

we had no more in the Army :bulb:

Are they planning to open anymore services?
Because they do a far better job than the rest of the shower!

Why is it approx £11 for a meal and a pot of tea at Gloucester but approx £7-8 at Tebay ?

They’ve got £40 million notes to pay back :open_mouth:

Wooden spoon attracts flies without signal light. But relevance as has been instructed under glass. Sometimes.

Thenk you please.

The exit to the HGV parking is a pain in the arse. Giving way on your blind side

Like it’s really busy, and if you forward plan you can position the unit so you can see. More of a driver issue than an issue itself.

Prices are my big issue, the farm shop is extortionate. I’ve stopped there lots of times and the only time I’ve bought something was a pint of milk, which was reduced, although won’t be doing that again as it’d already gone off. I wouldn’t risk anything from the farm shop again.

Electric hook ups for fridges sounds like a good idea, however I think the haulier should provide the fly lead to connect to the box. Then when the numpty driver pulls out in the morning without disconnecting it and rips the lead out, at least it’s the haulier who bears the cost of replacing it. It may also discourage adhoc use by those who don’t want to pay for the service.

Electric Hook ups…they’re stealing the telephone lines down 'ere for the copper, anyone planning to stay awake all night to protect the hook up?

Didn’t know they had the J38 truckstop.

They’ve taken over Cairn Lodge on the M74 as well, always prefer to stop at one of their services whatever I’m driving.

Only 1 suggestion, could they look at the camber on the exit from Cairn Lodge, can turn into a skating rink if it’s icy, not good if you’re trying to exit to go southbound with traffic coming north on the DC. Food is pricey but then it’s a couple of grades above the tasteless plastic crap you get elsewhere.

Exiting the truck parking on the north and south bound Gloucester services, the design is bad, i turn my cab in a position where i have a full view of cars exiting, rather than rely on my mirrors, as you only want a Jenson Button boy racer to come out at 50 mph, and you will not see him in time .

Full list there westmorlandfamily.com/ of what they own.

The old sale details for Cairn were here m.novaloca.com/PropertySearch/Details/60690
Freely available on the Internet but it said on one listing keep confidential

J38 and the Rheged Centre make sense as they are as they’re all close together, Gloucester and Cairn Lodge are a fair haul away. As long as they keep the standards up I’m all for them expanding and showing the rip-off merchants how the job should be done.

I’ll second that… far too expensive to stop regularly. I’ll run on up to Strensham to the Spar if I need anything… more in line with my budget…

As regards to price I’m a great believer of you get what you pay for…
I’d rather pay a bit more and get quality personally…
I just think it’s nice to have a quality homemade pie for instance than a ginsters or a greggs…

I can get a butchers sausage roll for 80p in my town, in Gloucester services it’s £3. There’s paying for good stuff and then there’s being ripped off. I do realise it cost them a lot to build the place, but I’m afraid that isn’t my concern.

Rubber stops or sleepers at the end of each lorry bay for those who don’t know where their arse end is as there’s already some sapplings that have been ripped up along with some turf.

Seriously though very good quality with lots of staff but at a price.

What about building the next one in the middle with cars parking one side and lorries/coaches the other, I once worked with a registered disabled driver and he would find it difficult walking the distance needed at some of these services as obviously no catering for disabled hgv drivers .

Noticed today at Gloucester fuel station, all the cakes and fancies which look really good, laid out in the open without any covers.
Followed this guy in Hoicking snot out the back of his throat and coughing all over them…settled for a Mars bar instead.
