Bad GPS directions led a truck to get stuck on a notorious hairpin bend in Devon St this morning.
Second 2 None furniture removal owner and driver Joe Moana said he was on his way to pick up some home furniture from Ohiro Rd in Brooklyn when his GPS directed him down Devon St.
Moana said he would have been able to steer the truck around the bend, but the tyres had slipped slightly and it became stuck.
“Most of the streets are a bit like this, and we are usually pretty OK,” he said.
Moana said there was no sign at the top of Devon St warning of the winding road.
The truck was mostly undamaged, save for a broken headlight.
The road, known for previous incidents, including stuck buses, was completely blocked by the truck, police central communications spokesman Peter Theobald said.
A specialist tow truck removed the truck shortly before 11am.
Devon St is a steep and winding road linking Aro Valley with Kelburn.
@fb1, I know for a fact you can’t get an artic round there coz I nearly got stuck there in the 70’s and the road hasn’t changed at all since then, But if you want to give it a go I’ll get it arranged for you
See you in New Zealand next Sunday
Regards

I don’t think anything has changed in New Zealand since the 70’s. I would probably give it a go tbh.
