Hi Harry,
I only drive my vans for private use. It makes life much easier than transferring from a chair to a car.
Also I like being sat a bit higher, not as high as a lorry, but I can still pretend .
Cheers Dave.
A tidy looking ERF,there were quite a few of them at the show.
Canāt remember which lorry we saw this on
I think this is the one with the tractor mural.
Used to think I was high up when I had 10 months driving one of these, they look small up against the modern moters.

Hi Dave
Cut my teeth on one of them old girls, in tipper form for Ameys of Oxford, I had about 10 carpets over the bonnet to try and make her quite but it didnāt work, fair play to her she did go well but stopping her loaded was a bet of a problem.

Did you have the FFK 140 5.7 litre underslung engine John, the one I drove did. It used to bark out a bit,but it went well as you said.
A lot more power than the Bedford TKās.
Cheers Dave.
A couple of tidy Globetrotters.

Hi Dave
No I think this thing had the normal engine in the middle upright, if you know what I mean, donāt think I ever saw an under slung one. This one used to bark a bit, had the exhaust under the front bumper like a fuel tanker, but as you say a lot more power than a TK. I went from that to a TK, what a lovely little lorry that was in itās day, Quite, comfortable, went pretty well, looked good in itās day. I loved them.
cheers
John.

Hi John,
The underslung engine was on tilt under the floor of the cab,it enabled a flat floor to the cab.The one I drove had a double seat for passengers and a bar for them to hold onto. My little Cairn Terrier who came with me sometimes used to stand on the seat and hook his pawās over the bar.
Cheers Dave.
A tidy looking Foden unit, always liked a yellow lorry myself, possibly due to the fact that several I drove were that colour.
One of J H Willis Fodenās seen at Carmarthen. They are a regular sight travelling between North and West Wales with milk tank trailers.
This smart Daf XF is a long way from home.
Plenty of signage on this FH to know itās a Welsh unit.

Hi Harry,
With interest he owes you lot of money now. There were a few the old time gafferās who always wanted a slave. Worked for a firm where the TM was a bit of waste of space, found myself another job, then had a go at him about various grievances, then handed my notice which I had in my pocket all the time.
Cheers Dave.
Daibootsyās ex Harold Read ERF at Carmarthen.
