Welsh Border and Mid Wales Hauliers 1950's onwards

Dave the Renegade:
Hi Chris,
John JET Morgan and his brothers are coming to your Isle shortly to do a road run. You will ave to go and have a chat with him.
Cheers Dave.

Would that be the John Morgan on the South Wales thread Dave?

Dave the Renegade:

This bit of kit was used to pull timber out. Jet tells me it had a Vickers supercharged engine.

Dave the Renegade:

Another machine in action.

That is a Vickers VR180 crawler which had a Rolls-Royce supercharged engine. B & J Davies had it on developement trials, using it with an Onions sulky.

John JET Morgan has got a load of pics, and hopefully when he gets his laptop he will come on here. He’s a real lorry man, will talk about lorries with anyone, which is right up my street. It’s good to get blokes of his generation to have a chat with.I can go back a fair way, from listening to my dad and others of his generation. Jet falls in between those days and mine,he’s 78,I’m 62 so he has a lot more memories than me. Will post some more of his pics later.
Cheers Dave.

Jet Morgan went back to B & J Davies to drive this Foden artic from new,it had a Cat 400 engine, considered quite a beast in 1990.

Hello Dave I hope the welsh transport are doing better than the Irish transport, I read in a newspaper from Ireland on Tuesday that over 200 transport firms have folded this year there, they are having it bad. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

Hi Norm,
It’s no better here, with the price of fuel and the haulage rates,a lot of firms are having a hard time. I know a lot of owner drivers who want out,but are trapped with finance etc. Have heard of a couple who are thinking of going into administration to get out.
Cheers Dave.

Hi, nice to see Jets Foden and with the “roo bar” in B & Js case it was needed and not for show, shame some tea leaf took a fancy to it and nicked it one night !!.
regards Andrew.
