They delivered to some hard places around Clun then Tony, very tight twisty place,I had five weeks in 1970 hauling from just outside Clun on the Newcastle road to the top of Rockhill with a BMC FFK 140 of Brisbanes, never forgot it,we had four inches of snow in april 1970,didn’t mind the lorry pulled well and had a good heater.
Cheers Dave.
I remeber the rounds used to be,lydbury north, knighton, clun, anchor, clungunford and all the places inbetween,i used to come home blacker than the coal, you wouldnt be able to go with your dad these days, god knows where the next generation of drivers will come from,

Hi Tony,
No the health & safety would stop that I expect,I remember when I was a kid places like AAvonmouth Docks were iffy about kids going in. I used to go with my dad there also one of Roberts of Knighton drivers. My dad drove for Passey Nott who had insurance for passengers as they had drivers mates when I can first rmember, then stopped in the mid fifties, but they did send a warehouse bloke out with a lorry if the drop was a big one,and/or difficult, none of the deliveries they made would be allowed nowadays with the H&S rules, also handling and lifting, and in your families case coal was a hard rough job wearing those padded leather things especially in warmer weather.
Cheers Dave.
