I’ve always liked those colours, a real lorry livery !
It just needs a black bumper and wings to be identical to Thomas Lamb’s (Manchester) that used those colours untill 1965.
Thanks for showing it Andrew, it took me ages to work out how to get photos transfered onto here.
HOWS THAT! HOW WAS THAT ! as stated by Jones in dads army, and also dont panic.
circa 1975 the F88 driven by Derek, and later was the first artic that I drove. My maiden voyage was 400 fat lambs ex Knighton mkt and delivered to Barnstable (North Devon Meats), & yes it was before the Oakhampton bypass, and you always stopped at Grahams at North Petherton, before the real driving started…
Scania LB111 on the old A38 .Lorry was bought new in 1979 and driven by Rhyse Jones, my old dad wanted another F88, but Volvo was now doing the F10, which was to new for dad, considered buying a Leyland Marathon, but thank goodness (no harm ment to you Leyland lovers) bought the Scania.
Roy Edwards of M A Evans (then a big ERF man) questioned dads sence in buying a Scania, I quote “nothing but trouble” strange how things work out !.
Scania P112 , under 13 t. tare so over 25t payload at 38t. on six axles, driven by Johnie Edwards,Kempton.
hiya,
Super motors Mr B and and much nicer without all those silly senseless lights that seem to be todays trend.
thanks harry long retired.
heres a question for you Dave, can you remember what lorry we first had in yellow ?, ill give you a clue and name Cliff Price.
Hi Harry, many thanks & i quite agree with the lights & bits, when driving a fuel tanker for Countrywide I made a delivery to a Sir Ben Gill in Hereford (high and mighty man at Countrywide) and was told that we had a new transport manager who likes the bull.s.t approach, when he asked me if I liked the bits and bobs my response was it depended if you were driving for Countrywide or Billy Smarts circus, you can imagine his shocked silence !.
Albion Clyesdale reg. DFO 20. The last lorry that dad drove full time before buying the Milebrook Garage and all that .Happy days.
hiya,
Yes Andrew well answered, i do believe they ruin the appearance of a well painted motor.
thanks harry long retired.
two stroke Commer, driven by John Bevan (sadly now gone to the great trucking ground in the sky).
You knew it was the commer coming by its sound, both uphill and down.
This picture was taken outside the old works factory, dont quite know why dad altered the livery slightly, could have been a mistake by the painters.
Brand new Thornes stock box as well, (king of the stock boxes) loved the look of the wooden stock boxes, but boy were moving the decks heavy.
