Hi Fin,
Nigel is still at Strinds on the batching plant as far as I know,I remember his accident well,a couple of KTH drivers Phil Morris and John Young were first on the scene an shouted on the CB for someone to phone for an ambulance and fire brigade to get him out,as I was at home on a homebase I phoned the emergency services,if he was’nt a big strong bloke,he wouldn’t have survived that smack.
Cheers Dave.
Just before i go get shut eye Dave, who was “Rockshifter”,my childhood memories of traveling up to Hergest Camp Turkey Site with me ol chap,i remember that name on the old AM CB Tilcon driver i think
cheer`s Fin
Hi Fn,
It was Woody,he now drives a Volvo FM for Mayglothling,he is dark with tash, one of the fastest drivers out of the Gore when on Tilcon. Ken Preece overtook him with his Daf four wheeler up out of Kington, then shouted on the CB you can kiss my arse goodby, down the otherside Woody came from nowhere and overtook him by the Welson turn and frightened him to death, out of gear from the top of Bollingham, that was Woody.
Cheers Dave.
Dave have you every thought of writing a book,Your quantity of photos and local knowledge would make a good read for many a local driver.

Apology’s for hijacking this thread but I have had folk ask me the same question, having worked at one quarry for 27 years, however while such people are still around you would need to be spot on with your printed words or you can soon offend! The problem with getting older is that the memory plays tricks on you as very few of us actually wrote anything down at the time, how we would love to be able to rewind the clock at times, ha ha!
Pete.
Hi Tony & Pete,
If I wrote a book, the libel lawyers would earn a fortune, have got plenty of memories but as Pete says the older you get, sometimes you get it wrong, mind you in my case its a habit of a lifetime.
Still hoping to get some more old pics for this thread, but can’t really see it going for many more months, there is a limit to the amount of hauliers old and new in this area, and not all took pics, including myself.
Cheers Dave.
still learning how to post pics in to middle of screen. HELP!!!
Hi Paul,
Nice to see another pic of CWG on here,if you are uploading on photobucket, set them for a 15" screen, then they will fill the screen more, but the pics ok,we can all scroll across and see them.
Cheers Dave.
