That’s a nice looking E14 ERF of Goughs Dave.I had one on a “D” plate with the twin splitter on tanker work and it was a blinder, the best wagon I’ve ever driven I think, including the Transconti and Marathon .
I’am with you there Chris I was torn between the ERF’s or DAF and ERF come out in front the way they look, Ive had about 9 ERF’s and 6 DAF’ sand they always earned me planty money and a plus got me home. I can recall not getting home only 6 times 35 years using ERF’s or DAF’s. I’ve limped a couple of times but still got back.

6 times in 35 years That’s good John, you picked the right trucks that’s for sure. I love the ERF’s drove a few over the years, none of them ever left me sat on the side of the road always got me home even when they had a problem. The only Daf that ever let me down was a brand new 3600 ATI, it gave a lot of problems on it’s first trip, we had to leave it with a dealer in Amsterdam to sort out, they gave us a 2800 to use until it was sorted, picked it up got it back to the UK and everything that could go wrong with it did over the next few months, they got it sorted in the end and it was great I loved it, then the guy I was on for went broke so I never got to enjoy it for long.
Here’s another one of a Daf artic, seeen this before with the Ford Orion next to it.

Hi Paul,
I have about twenty more of A E Gough’s to post, quite a few are of the newer lorries, which they run now.Derek told me that like a lot of us they didn’t take many pictures years ago. They had several Leylands with the ergnomatic cab and a Thames Trader, but he didn’t give me any of those, you never know,he might find some more.
Cheers Dave.

Hi Steve,
Could be,haven’t a clue when or where this happened, they work a different area most of the time to the drivers this way, would imagine, that was loaded out of Builth Quarry.I scanned the pics off and took them back, don’t like hanging on to them,as they are of sentimental value to the owners.I only have a good look at them when I post them.If I see one of the Gough family, will get some more info.
Cheers Dave.

A Seddon Atkinson artic pictured in the former Station yard in Powys.
wow, my old strato. I pulled for gwynedd shipping with that.
It had only done 300000 kms when I bought it. I had it up rated to 405 bhp. its an ex-multi serve tanker.
the interior still had the plastic on the seats, bed, walls etc
I had it re-sprayed dark blue. I see the rust has reappeared !
the air deflector is off a euro cargo day cab, bough it for £20!

Hi Dozer,
It was parked at Abermule, near Newtown, when we took the picture, don’t know if someone is running it,there were a few others in front of it.
Cheers Dave.
