Welsh Border and Mid Wales Hauliers 1950's onwards

Dave the Renegade:

Didn’t like to split this pic,as it belongs to Norman Evans.
In the foregrond is one of C W Griffiths Fodes, not sure who the driver with the eight wheeler is,the pic is taken by the workshop at the Gore Quarry. It looks like John Williams.

Dave, I like ‘Spot the Difference’ competitions but you’ve got me stumped with this one.

hammer,You are too sharp to be driving lorries, coming from your neck of the woods you should be a minister, either in the Welsh Assembly or the Baptist Chapel.

Scania artic coming into Craven Arms on the A49,from the north.

Volvo coming through the roadworks on the A55 on Anglesey.

A couple waiting at the Kingspan, Pembridge works. Saw a shunter driver getting out of a dock spotter.

Saw this Scania eight wheeler, can’t remember where, think it was on the A483 north of Oswestry.

Another pic lent to me by Norman Evans. Tilcon line up,with the drivers. Are you among these, Pete Windrush?.

Only just seen this post Dave as I have been away for 18 days. This pic isnt from the Midlands area as I can’t see any faces that I know, also at that time I would have been repairing them instead of driving! Bonkey said that they would have come from several different plants, but we had 40 + trucks at our 3 quarries plus about twice as many cars and vans as well as quarry mobile plant etc so they COULD have come from one area such as North West or as you said maybe the Forest of Dean region. Good pics of Norman’s though, good to see that the old lad is still around as he was one of the “Good guy’s”, and the Gore photo brought the memories flooding back. Keep up the good work.

Pete.

Hi Pete,
Norman wasn’t sure of who,or where the pics were taken,he thought Oulton Park.,he also lent me a few Tilcon magazines. I will see if there is anything to scan out of them.
Cheers Dave.

Hi Tony,
Just drove through, didn’t like to hang about,as I didn’t know how the company would react to someone driving through to take pics.We came in last week. Did see a dock spotter with someone getting out, there were several lorries moving around,so thought we had better get out of the way.
Cheers Dave.
