This Scania bulker, with the Daf pulling a Taylors of Martley trailer in the background,is seen on the A44 between Lyonshall and Pembridge.
And here is the Daf,complete with a flat,on the front offside, sat with his hazards on,waiting for the tyre fitter.
Does your heart good to see a few ERFs & Seddon Atkis still earning their keep and a few others in the yard either being cannabalised for spares or maybe returned to the road one day.
Rare to see yards like that these days although they were once common peven less than 20 years ago.
Wagons have gone for scrap, yards have gone for houses and evrything else is going to pot.
Sad thing is Im too young to be a miserable old b**tard!!!
Cheers
Mark

Hi Tony,
Haven’t all been taken this week, probably in the last month or so. I have started to try and mix them up,so that its a bit more interesting, not viewing the same bit of road.I still do quite a bit of mileage.Tracy my other half takes the pics. I have a few on my phone, will try and suss out how to get them on here.
Cheers Dave.
One of my old hauliers. Neil Hood and Father Ltd from Trecastle near Brecon.I was Neil’s transport manager when he first started,he now has someone closer to his home. Neil runs two eight wheeler tippers out quarries in the South Wales area. This evening pic is taken in Llandovery lorry park.
Saw this smart looking Scania Bulker, heading eastbound on the A40 near Bancyfelin, Carmarthenshire.
A couple of tidy artic bulk tippers, seen on the A49 Ludlow bypass today, not sure where the Daf is from, the Scania is a local lorry belonging to Clive Crowther from the South Shropshire area.
M A N pallet lorry seen on the A30 in Cornwall, early July this year.
Another of Nolan Transport, this one seen on the A49,between Church Stretton and Craven Arms,Shropshire.
Hi Dave, good to see the K.B.H.S. MAN with a load of scrap on board. Did you have a chance to read Bob Tucks story in August’s T+D ?.
Mr Tuck was busy when he visited West Wales, as September’s issue has a story on D.A.J. Evans of Saron.
Keep up the great work.
cheers Paul

Hi Paul,
I was a tight git and didn’t buy a T+D. Will see if they still have one on the shelf, expect the september edition is there now. I stopped buying T+D and Trucking International a few years ago, they were adding up to quite a bit of money,as I have Commercial Moter, plus daily and local newspapers. But will have to see if I can get a copy.
Cheers Dave.
Saw this Tarmac artic on the A49 in Craven Arms yesterday. I think its one of the South Wales contract hauliers lorries, who are working out of the Gore and Strinds/Dolyhir Quarries near my home. I suspect this one was returning from Bayston Hill Quarry,as I saw a lot of local artics doing the same.
Mick Hughes, known on th CB as “Tumble Bug” lives right by the local quarries. Mick seen here driving the Volvo block lorry, he has driven from new for the Lloyd Brothers from Norton near Presteigne. Mick is a quarry veteran driver, having driven a block lorry for 25 years, and before that a mixer. He is seen here on the A49 Ludlow bypass.

Hi Dave,I might be getting my Welsh regions a bit confused as Im not sure where they operate from, but do you have any pics of the Ivor Owen tipper fleet.
Used to run a smart E series ERF eight wheeler in Tarmac colours that went to a few truck shows in the late 80s early 90s.
I think they might run red DAFs these days.Cheers
MarkHi Mark,
They are from Wrexham. I have a couple of prints of their lorries, one a K series Dodge, the other an ERF eight wheeler, both done by Alan Spillett.
Cheers Dave.
Hi Dave, have just found this Alan Spillett painting from Headlight magazine dated April 1997

Hi Flishflunk,
Thanks for posting that pic of Alan Spilletts, haven’t seen that one before. I have his book as well as about forty of his prints, don’t think that one is in thoe book. I will have to ask Alan if he still has a copy of that one.
Cheers Dave.
Haven’t had many Hanson tippers on this thread. Along comes this nice Foden eight legger, and you’ve guessed,a water board van passes, same time.Seen on the A49 at the Travellers Rest near Craven Arms.
