Hi Hammer,
They have been down here a lot in the last few weeks, backloading chippings to North Wales.

Took these last week whilst on holiday in Cornwall, a reefer in Newlyn.

Shouldn’t have posted these on here, should be on the Cornish thread, anyone can take them onto that thread if they wish. These three at Newlyn last week.

Hello Dave,

Is that what they are up to? I take it thats hardstone/granite chippings for the roads?

Hi Hammer,
Yes Granite from Gore Quarry, saw another of theirs today,an artic, loaded outside the Gore, didn’t have the camera with us. Think there is a problem with Bayston Hill,so they are getting more chippings from Gore.
Cheers Dave.

The A494 out of Ruthin has been resurfaced twice with Bayston Hill granite (mixed in Pant and Brombrough) and apparently its going to be ripped up again because its not right! Seems that the Bayston Hill stone is somehow absorbing the bitumen out of the tar. Well thats what I’ve heard, might be a load of rubbish!

They are loading chippings for Hogan’s in Bangor. That’s who I work for. 2 thousand tonnes has been orderd for work on the books and another 2 thousand tonnes for stock. But it must be quiet on Roland Yound because he’s sending trucks back empty from Bangor to Gore for another load on a regular basis!

Cheers for the info joswaj, thought I hadn’t seen them this way before, seen them in Shropshire before, but thats a bit nearer to North Wales.
Thanks Dave.

Can’t remember where this was taken, looks a bit like the A44 near Pembridge Herefordshire.

One of Phil and Perry Bayliss Volvo FM eight wheeler tippers, driven by Peter Lloyd,on the A44 Kington bypass.

One of Plant Hire contractor, Les Price of Ivington near Leominster, Scania’s on the A44 Kington bypass.

Took this picture of the Merc artic,on the way back from Cornwall, can’t remember exactly where.

This is not a heavy commercial,as you can see. Bruce Hill driving this Leyland Daf pickup for Hedley Simcock, has been bagging and delivering bags of coal for 45 years, not many people have handballed as many tons as him. Bruce coming along the A44 Kington bypass.
