One of the first alpha’s that Sharples ran, this one worked mainly out of Johnstons Leinthall quarry near Wigmore.

This was one of the first Alpha’s Sharples painted in Tarmac colours, most of the time they worked out of the Pinvin near Pershore plant, taking dust or chippings from Gore down to get there.


Sharples new Alpha in 2002, just had the Tarmac logo vynils added.


Sharples ran a few Alpha tippers in Tarmac colours and one Hino tipper before they finished last year,The last I think was on an 07 plate.


This is the last picture of the current batch of photo’s lent to me by Jean Sharples. These are just a few of the many lorries Sharples ran over the last eighty odd years. They ran several ERF artics in the 60’s alongside the Fodens, also several more Foden and Albion tippers.
