Welsh Border and Mid Wales Hauliers 1950's onwards

Another shot of a lorry which is doing harder work than a tipper.

Ivor Duggans Boxer, pictured in his yard.

Ivor Duggans first six wheeler, before it was sprayed.

Second F7 purchased by Ivor Duggan, first was on a V plate, before being replaced by this one.

And this one was the first eight legger, driven by,“Diamond” Dave Richards.

Dave,
Do you remember Stevens + Chambers of Brecon. They had a lime spreading operation,as well as running out of quarries and doing some work on the coal. I think they sold up in the early 80’s.
Looking at the timber there, what about Pontrillias timber?
Paul.

Yes Paul I do remember them, I used to see a couple of their lorries at Margam, when I was loading bulk slag, I can,t remember where they got their lime from, it must have been Vaynor or Penderyn or one of the quarries that way, they did Magnesium lime from Taffs Well. I know a few ex Pontrilas drivers, they used to have three drivers based around Knighton on the timber side of it, one with a crane mounted on the unit, like the one featured on this thread, also a couple of artics with bolster trailers running with it.
Cheers Dave.

Ivor Duggan hass run a lot of these Mercedes six wheel tippers, very low geared and strong for the type of work he does. This is one of three he had at the same time, he still has this one, just for truck shows, kept in imaculate condition.

Same lorry again, as it is now, over twenty years old.

One of Ivors older Mercs.

Ivor ran several of these three series Fodens with ■■■■■■■ engines.

This eight wheeler had a payload of over 21 tons.

Diamond Dave Richards drove this lorry from new.

Another view of a freshly washed Diamond machine.

These six wheeler Fodens carried over 17 tons, narrow cab being suitable for Farm lanes and gateways.

This is Ivor Duggans current eight wheeler, which rolled back off the ramps and through the hedge into a lane. Damage one broken light lens.

And now we have the front view, stargazing. :unamused:
