BSERIES PAUL:
NEP 744R was new to B Rogers Skewen Ross Roadways then purchased her 180 gardner david brown gearbox
john drove wad 12x tractor unit
Thanks, Paul. Any idea who owned WAD12X before Ross Roadways? I couldn’t remember that John drove an artic but I do recall being snowed in at Daw Mill colliery with him many years ago. We eventually got back on the M5 at about 1100am the next day.
ROF how could you have been snowed in? it was the middle of August, is there houses built on that haulage yard also!?
Ross roadways had WAD 12X brand new. She was a cancelled order from H Parkinson from Preston. Hence the white stripe round her. Daw mill. That brings a few memories sat there with the old chap. Especially under that cobble belt
A cobble every ten minutes, if I remember!
There was such a queue to get on the M5 at Bromsgrove that morning, I was able to brew up while stationary and took a cup back down the road to John. Funny how some things stick in your mind!
I wondered about the previous ownership of the SedAtki having spotted the Gloucestershire registration.
And don’t take any notice of that Midlands Smith bloke- he’s just jealous that he didn’t make a fortune out of dodgy nights out!

iirc FCJ 882D is being restored in Derbyshire.
Good evening.
I’m very pleased to hear that news.
I spent many happy hours working on her through her life and carrying out the conversion from rigid 8 flat bed to tipper.
I look forward to seeing the finished product!
Best regards Jack.
Hi jacko , was it Des Jarrot who at one time drove that Foden . remember being told that Sharples drivers would bring down potatoes to the Abbey to bribe the loaders to jump the queue , regards Keith

Hi Keith.
I don’t remember Des driving FCJ 882D on a regular basis! She was driven by the late Percy Hall and Walter Greenhouse on change over for most of her life as a flat bed. Percy mostly did the day run to the Midlands, Walter did nights to the Abbey.
Des drove the Foden artic JVJ 120E for a long time. Probably from new?
I wouldn’t imagine any of them wanting to " bribe " anyone ■■? !!!
But I would also imagine that it could " speed things up a bit " ■■? !!!
Best regards, Jack.

Hi kk ,the sharples boys were nice blokes any thing you wanted they would get for you I was shunting in the abbey at the time it was always Ray George and des every December they would ask drivers for lists of what they wanted ,even the weighbridge staff ,they came in one day with George’s 8 wheeler full of cider, potatoes, swedes cabbage carrots and what ever goes on your plate spent the whole morning with drivers, stockers from the bay’s and weighbridge queuing up with bags for their order ,if there was queues for the bay’s they never asked if they could push in as I say nice blokes ,they would know what what each stocker has and they would load them first ,that’s a nice tattoo in Dave,s memory as others say we do miss him on here hope you keeping well Tracey , cheers John
Hi Jacko and smallcoal , yes Sharples had a fine crowd of drivers ! potatoes i understand were from the farm on the corner of the junction at Willersley .
Des Jarrot i seem to remember made rabbit hutches out of old pallets !! , regards Keith.
