Welsh Border and Mid Wales Hauliers 1950's onwards

Neil Richards taking a break with the Atki.

Hiya,
That’s a cracking picture Dave I loved those Atki’s unless they were Gardner
powered the driver and the motor look like they’ve had a hard shift.
thanks harry, long retired.

This one was a Gardner 180 Harry. Graham Middleton had a Seddon/Atkinson with the 8LXB in, but nothing more powerful than that.
Cheers Dave.

Neil with the Atkinson. Looks like the A470 North Wales.

The older Atki that Neil drove.

Dave the Renegade:
Just asked Neil about the lorry 240. He said it ended up at Jeff Wrays yard at Llantrisant where it was broke up.
Cheers Dave.

Thanks for asking, Dave.

I’m sure I have a photo, somewhere, of it in its Bowker days

Seen in Graham Middleton’s yard.

The layby that the Atki and stockbox are parked is the layby on the A5 dropping down from Llyn Ogwen to Bethesda. The road and layby haven’t changed much since the photo was taken. Brilliant photos Dave, ‘Diolch yn fawr’!

Thanks for clearing that one up Dai. These photo’s are from Neil Richards who has kept me supplied with pics the last few months.
Cheers Dave.

Hiya,
Dave that looks nice a nice stretch for engaging silent seventh. Wheeeeeeeeee on the bends
thanks harry,long retired.

Not advisable on that road Harry. A lot of downhill with twisty bends with the camber of the road being wrong.
Cheers Dave.

Thanks for this cc. Roberts took a lot of Entress Dafs over when they packed up. They were still there along with a few more new and second hand one’s which he added, then sold by Malcolm Harrison at the sale when Gordon Roberts retired.
Cheers Dave.

One of Graham Middleton’s mixers, seen on the A470 at Llanelwedd, Radnorshire.
Not to be confused with the other Graham Middleton that Neil Richards drove for.
