Welsh Border and Mid Wales Hauliers 1950's onwards

A couple of tankers from the 50’s.

John Hybarts Atkinson which he drove for Bulmers and now owns.

Dave the Renegade:

One of Bulmers Hereford premises.

Evening all,

Fascinating stuff you are putting up Dave, thank you.

Jerry Smith, and David Davies ran an incredibly well organised distribution operation. The mileage that those day cab F10s ran was enormous. The slick changeovers were every bit as good as any in the Brewing/Soft drinks distribution industry. Roger Dennis at Bass was in awe of just how well it was run…And his operation at Bass took some beating!

Did Pat, do a piece in Truck about it? I remember having a talk with him one night in the Sofitel in Lyon, and telling him that Bulmers, (Jerry Smith), were years ahead of anyone else in Europe in terms of distribution…then I told him about Ted Jones at Chuckie Chicken…I was always of the opinion that we in the UK did distribution better than anyone else in Europe…

Cheerio for now…and thanks.

I remember reading articles about Bulmers and Chukie in the Truck magazine several years ago John. But I stopped buying the monthly magazines seeral years ago and passed the mags on after I had read them.
I remember someone saying that Bulmers ran 180 vehicles in their fleet ,but now most of the haulage is done by Kuhne Nagel.
Cheers Dave.
